"The idea of a mentally ill vice president who suffers in complete isolation was obviously sparked by the behaviors I witnessed by Sarah Palin," Wallace tells Time. "What if somebody who was ill-equipped for the office were to ascend to the presidency or vice presidency? What would they do? How long would it take for people to figure it out? I became consumed by this question."
It's not surprising that Wallace would choose a public forum to portray Palin in such a negative light. Wallace's name was near the center of post-campaign speculation about unhappiness with Palin within the McCain team. But now, Wallace has added a new and striking element to the story: She says the McCain team discussed the question of whether, if McCain had won the 2008 election, it would have been "appropriate" for Palin to actually take office.

UPDATE: I just spoke with Charlie Black, who was McCain's top campaign adviser in the 2008 race. "I never heard any such discussions," Black told me. "There were no discussions like that with McCain, or I think I would have known about them. That doesn't mean some subset of the senior staff might have talked to each other about it."

Hmmmmm...that's a thinker.
We should fighting to defeat Democrats, non engaging in 14 year old junior high level attacks on fellow Republicans.
If the great Lee Atwater were still alive, he would tell Wallace to STFU
Sounds like the PDS left is getting ready for her public entry, sometime now in or about the next fortnight. They obviously already know her decision, made many moons ago, but with crunch time coming, they are trying anything that might stick.
Probably. So which stories are true?
Is there any single negative thing about her?
And where is McCain?
Shouldn’t he be out setting the record straight?
Especially when she supported his reelection with some cost to herself.

i’m sure i’m not the only one whose immediate thoughts were of joe biden after reading this...
Joe Biden - Mentally ill!
Barry Barack Hussein Soetoro Obama and possibly fifteen other names - Mentally ill!
I don't know who this bitch Wallace is, but I know she's - Mentally ill!
I’ve stopped watching and listening to Hannity after he keeps inviting this piece of human debris, Ms Wallace, onto his program.
My first thoughts were of Barry. Biden came in second.
Nicolle Wallace: She is who we thought she was.

You tell me? all of the attacks against Palin from McCain ‘08 camp have been ‘anonymous’...why? Palin can’t harm anyone of these staff people. She barley knew them for two months and has no connections to harm their jobs or future jobs
The only two who came out to attack Palin has been Wallace and Steve Schmidt, who are RINO’s and who were right after the lost trying to deflect attention away from them for running a poor campaign
This Wallace is a publicity whore and a pig.
Implying Palin is mentally ill is so despicable I think McCain is morally obligated to discredit her.
“What if somebody who was ill-equipped for the office were to ascend to the presidency or vice presidency? What would they do? How long would it take for people to figure it out?”
uh..He did!
He’s ruining America!
And YOU still don’t have a clue!
Only that she hasn't been able to garner your love and affection.
Whaaaat! Wallace hasn't figured out yet that that has already happened. What is wrong with these people. Not only that Palin made McCain as palatable as could be seeing that no right minded republican REALLY wanted to vote for the guy anyway.
The only reason McCain did as well as he did was because of Palin. That story about someone associated with Palin calling states to find out about filing deadlines must have spooked somebody.
“Implying Palin is mentally ill ...”
Its their opinion of Flyover Country in general...not just Palin. Any refusing to yield to their “birthrite” for American Elective Office is mentally defective.
