With the decision by New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie to forgo a run for the Republican presidential nomination, two questions hold the key to the future of the GOP race: can Mitt Romney expand his support within the party, and can Rick Perry bounce back?
Christie's announcement Tuesday that he would not join the race, while not unexpected, probably ended a long period in which many Republicans spent as much time dreaming about a candidate who wasn't in the race as focusing on those who were. Only former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin remains as a possible late entry, and both time and interest in her candidacy are quickly running out.
"The campaign just got a whole lot more real," said Todd Harris, a Republican strategist. "No more hypotheticals about this or that person swooping in to save the day. The field is set, and it's not going to change. The race has been frozen in place while everyone waited to see what Christie was going to do. Now we know." ...

Here we go with the MSM pushing the 2-man race again when Cain leads Perry in some important states according to some polls.
You can bet the commie ‘RATS and their little toadies in the state run “media” will be drawing a bead on these two also.
IF you'd rather NOT be pinged FReepmail me.
IF you'd like to be added FReepmail me. Thanks.

“With Christie out, MSM focus on Romney, Perry “
“With Christie out, Republicans focus on Romney, Perry”
Wrong again. It should read: “With Christie out, RINOs focus on Romney, Perry”
Republicans Focus? Surely this meant REPUBLICAN ESTABLISHMENT... So CAIN, So Palin, So EVERYBODY ELSE is Dismissed — NOT HARDLY... Pure Propaganda seems to me ....
NEITHER Perry nor Romney are PRINCIPLED Conservatives and Self-Described CONSERVATIVES make up 40% of Voters ....
So folks who believe that the only future Republican Choices are Romney and Perry are just plain naive and STUPID...
It’s kinda weird, considering the WaPo spent the last three days parading Perry around in a Klan robe. You would think they’d make it a three-man race at this point.
What’s with all the caps? I ain’t blind ya know! :)
They are scared to death of Herman Cain.
It would not matter if the polls showed Mitt at 15%, the media would still say he is the leader.
They’re scared to death of anybody but Obama, they have to prop that phony up at all costs. If push comes to shove, they’ll settle for Romney.
I’m hoping, against hope, that there are more candidates - good ones - that will enter the race.
If not, the WaPo is correct IMHO. Of the candidates who have a decent chance of winning, Perry is the most conservative. If he doesn’t come back - the next debate being critical - then Romney is the clear front-runner.
If Perry continues to fade, the not-Romney focus will turn to Newt. (I think Cain will either stall and fall slowly or rise and fall quickly).
IMHO, of course.
Whatever the outcome, my main hope is on the House and Senate and an opposition unified enough, no matter who the nominee, to defeat the current regime.
Everyone will be a target if they’re seen as a threat to Obozo.
Cain is on a book tour.
Here we go. Now give them a week to proclaim Perry as Satan and Romney as the de facto nominee.
People need to ignore ALL “news” channels. There is no RIght or Left media ... there is only “them” and they will do whatever they can do, say whatever they can say, to get what they want.
I agree, they are desperate to have Romney as the R nominee.
You have selected the correct answer.
You win a coming dump-truck of hate and vitriol from the MSM the likes of which we haven't seen since Clarence Thomas.
Which was always designed as part of, and integrated into, his campaign.
