US Bank has branches in California and so far has been excellent.

They have atms in most Safeways and of course at their branches.

We use their electronic bill pay which is free.

Here is a good link to look at banks in your area.

Credit Unions are at less risk than banks today.
You can also look up Credit Unions at this same site.

We swtiched to a local credit union that only requires us to live or go to church in Orange County, CA.

Good Luck!

Check for local credit unions. They don't have quite the same profit motives as regular banks and most will not be moving to place monthly fees on debit cards. The idea was laughed out of the room at my credit union and I seriously doubt anyone running for board positions will support it.

As a side note - you've already been paying a lot of these for years through the backdoor. I know I've accounted for how much these transactions cost me. Merchant accounts aren't usually allowed to charge extra for using a credit or debit card but I can certainly raise my prices by 5% across the board to account for those costs. However, unlike most merchants I know (other than Specs liquor), I also give a 5% discount for paying with cash. =)

Anything. Your mattress. A jar. A ziploc bag buried underground.

I am puzzled as to why anyone still banks at el Banko of Americo.
