Steve Jobs gave pre-release iPad 2 to President Obama
AppleInsider ^ | October 3, 2011 | Josh Ong

U.S. President Barack Obama revealed recently that one of the perks of his job includes having received an advance copy of Apple's iPad 2 directly from Steve Jobs himself.

Obama revealed the fact in an interview with ABC News' George Stephanopoulous (via NetworkWorld).

“Steve Jobs actually gave it to me, a little bit early," he said. "Yeah, it was cool. I got it directly from him.”

Jobs may have had an opportunity to present Obama, a self-professed fan of Research in Motion's BlackBerry phones, with the device at a dinner in San Francisco in February, just two weeks before the unveiling of the iPad 2 in early March.

The dinner included several other prominent Silicon Valley executives, such as Google's Eric Schmidt, Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg and Oracle's Larry Ellison. A photo of the gathering shows that Jobs was seated to the president's left.

In late March, Obama revealed in an interview that he owned an iPad and had tethered it to his BlackBerry smartphone.

As much as Steve Jobs was a computer visionary, he's entitled to a white cane and a seeing eye dog when it comes to politics.

I bet the only thing Obummer uses the IPad for is downloading gay porn and checking basketball scores. He is genuinely Americas stupidest President.

So? I’d imagine every company comps the president...

“We” allowed him to continue to use his Blackberry although it was a security risk, as he needs instant communications with his handlers.

Unless Steve Jobs is suddenly in command and control of the Fraud, or Hussein’s handlers deemed it necessary for him to have an ipad, this is simply a promotion campaign for Hussein’s worshippers.

You mean the president got a cool toy a little before it was released?! Amazing! He truly is a visionary leader for our country! 4 MORE YEARS! 4 MORE YEARS!

As an aside, gifts to the president belong to the citizens of this county, not to the particular president.

Obama probably thought Jobs gave him a portable teleprompter.

He may use it for that.

I work in the pharmaceutical industry...our sales' folks can't so much as leave a pack of Post-It notes with a doctor's office without a lot of reporting paperwork. Any "comps" given have to be entirely related to a product, and cannot be outside usual and customary guidelines.

Why is it the President (and Congress people) can accept these kinds of gifts without question?

This would only be a problem if Obozo had the Commerce Department award $750 million to Apple to build a new factory.

Apple, like most tech companies, has been very late to the game of politics. Is it any coincidence that the sector thrives and is awash in innovation, has declining prices and is still growing and hiring rapidly?

No government interference or “help” is the recipe for success.

I will stay with a Tracfone for the next year at the very least.
I checked into what it costs per month to support one of these new smartphones.

I would rather have the extra funds to pay my bills as winter is coming and I am being laid off until spring.

Of course many don’t care if their teeth fall out, the kids have no milk, the car runs out of gas, only that they have a smartphone.

“Obama, a self-professed fan of Research in Motion’s BlackBerry phones”

Sounds like a smart move on Jobs’ part: regardless of the recipient’s politics, he’s vastly influential and fond of competing products - so give him an advanced copy of your product in hopes of displacing that fondness.

Notice that RIM isn’t doing so well, but Apple is. Leverage opportunities!

The Tab’ is part of Google’s Android family. You know...the same Google who hates Republicans, which employs Eric Schmidt, who is also on Obdumbo’s regime.

I don't get why Steve Jobs would like obama's policies. I know some democrats, and I can't reason with them either.
