Obama administration worried about impact on Palestinian Authority after US lawmakers block some $200 million in 2011 aid.
Washington -The Obama administration is lobbying Congress to unblock $200 million in aid for the Palestinian Authority that was frozen due to its bid for UN recognition of statehood over US and Israeli objections.
State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland said on Monday the administration was in "intensive" discussions with key lawmakers who had put holds on the money, a financial lifeline for the fledgling Palestinian government-in-waiting. "We still have some money in the pipeline but the concern is that if we don't get this going with the Congress in short order there could be an effect on the ground,"

We should cut off all funding to PA and muslim countries. Let them take care of their own.

Hope this doesn't mean Chicago style tactics.
Like Arafat before him, Abbas and his henchman never let much of the Aid $$$ reach the people. So, their living conditions don’t improve, they still hate us, and down the rathole it goes (if you can call Swiss bank accounts ratholes) - time to stop funding corrupt dictators who only use their people as pawns. And that goes for you 2, Barry Soetoro!
That’s because it winds back up in his campaign chest.

Kinda necessary, to separate the hams from the hammers.
What effect on the ground? Do you mean starving and impoverished peoples will starve and be more impoverished? Well, then sure! Lets release those funds... don't want to see more of this kind of bare poverty...
If you are a Baltimore Birds fan, you might be one of the last left.

Want the 20 mil? What are you willing to give up? Obamacare? EPA regs? Dodd/Frank?
How much of a fine does New York pay each year for being over the salary cap? Free Agents have killed baseball for fans who can remember players who stayed with their teams for their entire careers. New York still had dynasties before freeagency. Now you don't have to have a farm system, you just need to know when you can grab talent other teams have developed. When the O's started buying talent to compete with the Yankees and Red Sox, I knew it was over. One can only hope they return to the days when their farm system was great and they hung on to their talent. I hate Reggie Jackson.
The last 2 weeks of this season was a pleasure for me, watching the O's take out the Red Sox. Especially the last game - I love watching a big name closer get beat. Actually, I like the Red Sox. When I was going to a lot of games in Memorial Stadium in the 70's, I had seats in the visiting section (when I wasn't sitting in the upper deck with Wild Bill's crowd). They knew I was a Oriole fan because I wore my jersey. We talked baseball a lot and I never had to buy a beer. The Red Sox fans are the best.
How bout we keep the 20 mil and get rid of Obamacare, EPA regs, and Dodd/Frank?
Peter Angelos is plenty rich. The courts even cut his fees for the asbestos rewards...billions A fish riots from the top.
Angelos is a dipstick.
I might have seen you there. I used to take the trolley down York Rd from the Govans area to see the games. Those were the good old days!
I stayed in Essex off Eastern Avenue with my Aunt and Uncle when I went up for gamea. They had a dog that ate better than most people. I remember one morning my Aunt asked me what I wanted for breakfast. I told her, “Nothing special; whatever the dog had.” After she threw a towel at me, I got bacon and eggs - what the dog had gotten earlier.
My Mom worked for Glenn L. Martin during WWII, and Dad was in the Army in Europe. A couple of years ago, I went to the Martin Museum and donated extra copies she left me of Martin airctaft including a number of seaplane pictures and large prints). Took my daughter to Fort McHenry and Charm City Cakes.
When I was working I had a poster of row houses overlooking the inner harbor, a blue crab poster, and a large photo of the Martin Mars on my office wall (BTW there are 2 Martin Mars still operating in a firefighting role out of Canada - I would love to get out to Port Alberti, or go to California when they are being used to fight fires there).
