On Friday Former President Bill Clinton spoke at the dedication of a bridge at his Presidential library. During his address he complained that Republicans try to take too much credit for his welfare reform legislation and for balancing the budget. The two parties can argue about who was behind welfare reform, but no one deserves credit for balancing the budget. The truth is the United States federal budget was not balanced in any of Bill Clintons eight years as President. Not once! The federal government has two types of debt public debt and intra-governmental debt.

ditto.
bill’s been attempting to revise history lately.
The only reason that the public debt (debt without SSA and Medicare) went down during Clinton’s tenure is that he inherited a Republican controlled congress his first term that had controlled spending.
It wasn’t Clinton’s choice to not spend, it was the Republican congress’s.
This was the argument for years after that phony budget came out. Then all of a sudden a few years ago, everyone started agreeing that there was a surplus, even the GOP. It is time to inform people that no such thing really happened.
Clinton gutted the military and decommisioned bases and balanced the budget.Big whoopie flipping flip!Clinton amended the Community and Reinvestment Act and completed the demise of America with the housing bubble. And Dodd and Frank halped.Clinton is making millions dealing with all the rich towel heads and Chinese.Clinton is only a dixie mob member and Obama is the mob,the radicals, the Farakhhans,RADICAL CONS,the NBP’s every corrupt entity of all colors and sizes all wrapped in one and all’s Clinton can do is get pissed off now that Obama screwed up the small welfare reform we had?Only... in time to elect Hillary to replace Obama to finish off America; so he can lounge around and have affairs and get monicas, write books and act like he cares and feels your pain.
Well, he did sign TANF. But imho, welfare needs to be reformed further..
He didn't inherit it. It was forced on him in '94. If you recall, Slicks first 2 years was him being a Socialist trying to ram big gov't down our throats. People said no to that and the House and Senate flipped to GOP control.

The whole left keeps saying that Bill balanced the budget, got a surplus and raised taxes. The only one that happened is raising the taxes!
How much did the National Debt go down during Clinton’s term.
Not a friggin dime.
What steams me is not so much that the Schlickmeister is taking credit for overblowing his "achievement"--that he had to be dragged to by the GOP, kicking and screaming.
No, what steams me is all of the "cognoscenti"--not just Liberals-- who tout the mythological balanced budgets as if they were actually realized. It's another reason for me to despise the Punditocracy as being over-educated dunces. Simple fact-checking and intellectual honesty is beyond them.
Clinton came within $77B by auctioning off broadband spectrum.
The premise of ‘compromise’ equalled 3%+ cut in spending (welfare reform + ‘the era of Big government is over’) and 3%+ increased taxes on high income earners fueled ‘irrational exuberance.

” - - - such as the Social Security Trust Fund. - - - “
How can there be a “ TRUST fund “ when the US Federal Government goes broke EVERY year?
It was disgusting, I saw the beginning of it on C-Span. Bill + Hellary came out walking hand in hand, it was truly an offensive sight. The transcript really needs to be picked apart sometime. Just complete blathering, taking off those fake glasses to make a point etc. Ugh.
On one hand, we have Rick Perry rightly calling SS a Ponzi Scheme. On the other hand we have freepers arguing that a surplus isn’t a surplus.
Who’s right?
