Former U.S. Rep. Jane Harman (D-Calif.) urged the Obama administration on Sunday to release the private legal memo sanctioning the killing of Anwar al-Awlaki, a U.S. citizen and al Qaeda leader in Yemen.
"The Justice Department should release that memo," said Harman, director of the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars and a former chairwoman of the House Intelligence Committee. "The debate on the legal grounds for that strategy should be more in the open."
Speaking on CNN's "State of the Union," Harman said the "targeted killing of anyone should give us pause," but that the al-Awlaki was a "good case" of someone posing an imminent threat.

Yes, it really should be more open. Some of us citizens (though not mostly the ones here on FR) would like to know the process and the legal justification for when we can be targeted by the federal executive for assassination by a secret, non-judicially reviewed, pre-indictment order.

Someone actively planning and supporting terrorist attacks on this country certainly qualifies.

Legal memo...snark.
Probably more like some stick figure sketchings of men depicted in various sex positions at a known gay bath in Chicagoland...

Harman the richest person in congress should go retire to the ranch, I know it is a power thing. This inquiry will put handcuffs on drones, they will have to drop a you have the right pamphlet prior to attacking and retrieving a signed note.sarc

LOL!
If Harman and her fellow travelers ran the world, it would be wonderful!
No more wars.
Assuming, of course, that the Mass Murdering Muslims and other world sociopath "countries" observed the niceties of civilized nations...
Full judicial review of every enemy combatant--- before firing the shot.

I’m not sorry the POS is dead, but I share your concerns since Obama is trying to label Tea Party patriots as terrorists.

I will say I think it's interesting that so many liberals who think waterboarding terrorists was bad, because it happened under Bush, don't have a problem with killing terrorists and those around them with missiles fired from drones, when it happens under Obama.
I guess waterboarding is worse than assassinating in the liberal mind. Surely it can't have anything to do with the difference in administrations, he said, sarcastically.
