Jap whaling ships should start mounting 3” naval guns and take the greenie b@$t@rd$ out from four or five miles away.

It might be time for the Japanese Navy to conduct a training mission down there.

I’m a conservative but I side with the Sea Sheperd on this one, the Japanese claiming they need 900+ whales a year for research is ludicrous.

“They will have to kill us to prevent us from intervening once again,” Capt Watson said.

Wow...finally an episode worth tuning in for...

I don't see the difference between this, and piracy, except for the motivation. I say we treat them as pirates.

It's always easier to break something than it is to fix it. At sea, it's ten times as hard to fix.

There are anti fouling blades that can be attached to small prop shafts to cut accidental fouling.

Deliberate, murderous attempts like Watson's deserve an RPG thru the bridge windows. A video record of a sinking is moot if it's at the bottom of the Southern Ocean, no survivors. It's not like the Japanese have never machine gunned a life boat...

So where's the down-side?

Not fix, prevent. How about a retractable hook on the bow that extends down 10 ft and is deployed when the prop fowling boats appear. It would snag the fouling line and prevent it from reaching the prop? Or a simple keel like device just before the prop that would cause the fouling line to slide under the prop. Doesnt seem that hard to do.

For any interested I'm taking a collection up to buy Commodore Watson a spiffy uniform worthy of his position as Captitan and Commander. Lots of gold braid, deep blue wool with fine white piping. And well polished brass buttons! Knee length naturally and double-breasted to keep the Arctic chill out.

yer too late

“I’m a conservative but I side with the Sea Sheperd on this one, the Japanese claiming they need 900+ whales a year for research is ludicrous.”

Back in the day, when I was in the Navy, we had a plan. If anyone attempted to board our ship, uninvited, we shot them, dead.

Piracy is illegal. Attempting to kill members of the crew of a ship, is very illegal, which is what the Sea Shepard does on every episode.

Legally speaking, I think it would be justified, for the Japanese whalers to poke them, with anything, into the sea, and if they drown, they drown. Self defense is legal, and justifiable in this case.

I am not a big fan of whaling, but apparently the Japanese are doing it legally, or else there would be sanctions put on them by the international community.

If I were the Japanese, I’d send one Navy ship out to escort the whalers, a ship with a deckgun, and a sniper. A shot or two across the bow would probably get the point across to those nutbags. If it didn’t, and if they decided to attack the whaling ships anyway, they should put a shot INTO the bow. Problem solved...

I did read those numvers and responded to them. A few hundred thousand isnt all that many. Especially when nature kills many of whales too. Japan signed agreements limiting whaling to science only.

Exactly. They want to fly a pirate flag and publicly call themselves pirates? Make it so.
