Perry is 'open to sending US troops to Mexico'.

Does he want to invade a sovereign nation?

Mexico needs an enema. If you think the number of people crossing our border is bad now, it’s only going to get worse until that cesspool of a country is cleaned up, and the Mexicans aren’t going to do it themselves.

It's Mexico. We've sent bi-planes, the army, arty, and Civil War rations down there before. About 100 years ago.

Maybe it's time again. (without the wormy Civil War rations)

And if a sovereign nation doesn't control their people, like Pancho Villa.... we need to put that stuff down.

Again.

This isn't the first time. There is precedent.

Just because they beat France once, doesn't mean we're at risk. We just need to shut things down, down there. Kill some trouble makers.

Sending U.S. military forces into Mexico would be an essential act of war. The government of Mexico would never agree to it.

The United States military will not operate in Mexico short of a full-on invasion. There’s no other way. And, at some point , that may be the only option left but be ready to assume the nation of Mexico in the process.

This is Perry trying to assuage the friction of his “heartless” statement in the debate. That is all. No seriousness or genuine forethought to it.

My understanding is only if they request it.

Special Forces could get the Colombian Mafias on the run in Mexico, they have nowhere to go and could be cornered.

The CIA has a full picture of who is who and the network of the narco terrorists in every Mexican State.

Because the Mexican Federal Government can only govern effectively Mexico City (24 million people), US Special Forces could be especially effective in all other states where the narcos control.

The narcos control the political strings in the states outside Mexico City, they have bought the politicians there or have neutered them through a series of murders and other terrorist acts.

So most enforcement actions by local law enforcement is minimal because the Chiefs of Police are neutered or paid off by the narcos. The Mexican federal government has sent their own special forces from Mexico City to other states to fight narcos with some success but the action falls far short of victory.

It is said that Mexico City is off limits to the narcos because that is where the heads of the narco families live, where their children go to school.

But US Special Forces equipped with real time CIA intelligence could exterminate the upper ranks of all the narco families in a matter of weeks.

The problem is the Mexican political establishment is not ready to permit US Special Forces to operate inside their jurisdiction unless it is so secret that no one would know they were ever there.

Did you even read your own article? Of course he’s not going to go invade Mexico.

He did not talk about invading Mexico. He said he is open to the idea of sending troops to assist the Mexican government just like we did in Columbia. We were there at the request of Columbia.

If the Mexican Government is overthrown it’s going to get very ugly and it’s certainly possible. It seems prudent to keep all options on the table and we certainly have resources and intel capability honed in Afghanistan and Iraq that could be effective.

I don't think Perry sees either the US or Mexico as sovereign. As evidenced by his 2001 Border Summit speech he sees us as not separate but "joined by the Rio Grande"...

Mexico is a failed state on a par with Afghanistan, corrupt officials, warlords, and all.

Perry specifically said (in the parts of the article that you conveniently snipped out in the summary) that it would only be done in concert with the Mexican government. For those in Rio Linda, that means Mexico would need to ask for our help. It is not a unilateral ‘insane’ Napoleonic dream on Perry’s part. So if you want to believe it is, go ahead. I’m not buying that.

Seems they've been invading us for quite some time now. Even longer if you don't just count the drug cartels.

But I think O-bummer had the right idea. Build some more of those predator drones from the middle east and send them over Mexico. Surely we know where the chief scum bags live.

S-40: Pleeeeeeze! You make my point about the Perry haters being single-minded and willing to buy/make up "factoids". The article clearly says "to help fight..." and does not anywhere insinuate he would invade Mexico.

I also find it interesting how you can jump the shark in both directions - you detest the illegal Mexicans coming over, yet you're ready to howl about a sovereign nation being invaded ...
