GOP sets sights on Colo. Latino vote
Chronicle ^ | Oct 1, 2011 | IVAN MORENO

President Barack Obama's declining popularity has inspired Republicans as they court potential Latino votes in Colorado, a swing state where joblessness disproportionately hurts the fastest-growing demographic.

"Republicans see a tremendous opportunity," said Colorado Republican Party Chairman Ryan Call.

In 2008, Colorado was a toss-up state -- along with Nevada, New Mexico and Florida -- where Latino support helped sway the election in Obama's favor. But as the economy tumbled, the average annual unemployment rate rose to 13.2 percent for Latinos in Colorado last year, according to the state labor department. Overall it was 8.7 percent.

"These numbers are a strong and powerful indictment of the failed policies of Barack Obama," said Call, adding that he thinks Latinos are disillusioned with the president. "They're not only warming to the Republican Party, they're coming to the Republican Party."

Both parties realize Latinos are crucial in close elections.

In a tight 2010 U.S. Senate race between incumbent Democrat Michael Bennet and Republican Ken Buck, Bennet won in part because of overwhelming support from Latinos.

When Obama was elected in 2008, about 6 in 10 Latino voters in Colorado supported him, according to Associated Press exit polls. Latinos were 13 percent of the state electorate in 2008, compared to 8 percent in 2004.

What percentage of Latino’s are here legally -vs- illegally?

I net the folks who did it legally are PO’d at the freeloaders giving them a bad name

Or taking all the jobs

I bet we could convince them illegals hurt their life as much as their adopted country But BACK TO MY ORIGINAL question -what percentage? If I see a Latino on the street what are the odds he/she is illegal?

Colorado sent out a booklet for Proposition 103 to raise taxes. Colorado spends $2B on welfare for illegal trespassers and wants to raise taxes to buy more votes.

A lot of this is agit-prop by Mexico and Third World govt propagandaists----pumping up the vote numbers to flaunt a show of power. They're all salivating to get their greedy hands on US foreign aid. Probably Senor Ricardo has much such promises.

Keep in mind---latinos pay several thousand dollars to establish multiple identities with forged documents. Jose Madrigal, the Washington state rapist, had some 30 identities. Another illegal collected $3.5 million in UI checks using false identities.

Oakland Police Dept Mug Shot: Mishel Caviness, Hayward, accused of
running a large-scale operation devoted to stealing people's identities.

HAYWARD, CALIFORNIA -- A Hayward woman has been charged with numerous felony counts for allegedly running an identity-theft operation that created fake Social Security and California identification cards, checks and credit cards. Mishel Caviness, 40, was arrested after an investigation by Oakland police and the U.S. Secret Service.

The probe began when an Oakland city employee reported in January that someone was fraudulently cashing her checks, according to police Officer Ryan Goodfellow and court records. Caviness was identified with the help of surveillance-camera footage from Bay Area stores, police said.

A search of her apartment on the 21000 block of Foothill Boulevard in Hayward last week uncovered a printing operation capable of making fake checks and credit cards, police said. Also found were 900 blank credit cards, personal information belonging to as many as 1,000 people, blank checks and computers, police said.

Alameda County prosecutors charged Caviness with forgery, identity theft, forgery of a driver's license and grand theft. She has a previous conviction for welfare fraud and told police that she is disabled and unemployed. She is being held at Santa Rita Jail in Dublin in lieu of $325,000 bail.

Call is overly optimistic unless the nominee can articulate a law-and-order border control position that does not feed a negative backlash like happened in CA. There are a few candidates who can do that, a few who clearly cannot and at least one uncertain.
