(Reuters) - There's something to be said for going out with a bang.
Two Alabama game wardens have devised a smoking send-off for avid hunters and gun enthusiasts: For a small fee, the pair will turn cremated ashes into ammunition that the deceased's loved ones can fire at will.
Holy Smoke LLC has serviced only two clients since launching in July, but founders Thad Holmes and Clem Parnell said they have seen an uptick in prearrangements thanks to word-of-mouth and a recent flurry of international press.
"It's about celebrating life," Holmes, a 16-year state conservation officer, said on Friday. "We know how strange it sounds to people who aren't comfortable around guns, but for those who are, it's not weird at all."

I like this, now I have an alternative to being dumped in the ocean, this would be fun for whole family.
A new meaning for “I want to get inside your head.”
Instead of using smokeless powder, the shells are filled with your loved one’s ashes.
These shells are duds......not the way I want to be remembered!!!!!!
I assume the shells would have a blend of gunpowder and ashes since just ashes would indeed be duds.
Actually, as an avid shooter, I could live with that.
In the item it says they load 1 pound of ashes into 250 shells. I have no idea what the usual amount of cremation ashes are for a person but that gives you a ballpark figure. It also says this service starts at $850. If one is not squeemish an avid reloader might be able to do it themselves.
The article also says they mix it with the shot, not the powder. Given the weight of ashes I figure the ashes will only go a few yards from the shooter. The whole scenario reminds me of John Goodman trying to throw his friends ashes into the Pacific only to have them come back on the Dude.
Believe it or not, I try to stay away from movies with excess profanity, but I loved that scene.
Who the heck is Will? Somebody the deceased disliked?
I think it’s about 3-6 lbs of ashes, depending on the size of the deceased.

Hunter S. Thompson
Funeral
On August 20, 2005, in a private ceremony, Thompson’s ashes were fired from a cannon atop a 153-foot (47 m) tower of his own design (in the shape of a double-thumbed fist clutching a peyote button) to the tune of Norman Greenbaum’s “Spirit in the Sky” and Bob Dylan’s “Mr. Tambourine Man.”[35] Red, white, blue, and green fireworks were launched along with his ashes. As the city of Aspen would not allow the cannon to remain for more than a month, the cannon has been dismantled and put into storage until a suitable permanent location can be found. According to his widow Anita, Thompson’s funeral was financed by actor Johnny Depp, a close friend of Thompson. Depp told the Associated Press, “All I’m doing is trying to make sure his last wish comes true. I just want to send my pal out the way he wants to go out.”[35]
Other famous attendees at the funeral included U.S. Senator John Kerry[36] and former U.S. Senator George McGovern;[36] 60 Minutes correspondents Ed Bradley and Charlie Rose; actors Jack Nicholson, Bill Murray, Benicio del Toro, Sean Penn, and Josh Hartnett; singers Lyle Lovett, John Oates and numerous other friends. An estimated 280 people attended the funeral.
My last chance to kill one more deer.
