Listen I am a huge Perry supporter, and I will continue to support him as long as the only other viable alternative is Romney.

But he has got to do something to stop the bleeding on this. I do not just believe he can ride this out and wait for the subject to change.

That's another thing ~ all this waiting around on "federal funding" ~ the money still comes out of the same pockets.

Let's start shrinking the federales by doing for ourselves what we can ~ like enforcing the federal laws!

I believe that michele Bachmann is a hero for exposing the fraud that is Perry. She took the bullets, but saved us from this idiot. Thank you Michele for your sacrifice for the good of conservatives. Everyone on this site has four conservatives to chose from: Santorum, Bachmann, Palin and Cain. We have two liberals running: Romney and Perry. Why are you supporting the liberal when there are four true conservatives running?

The ONLY way to “work toward US citizenship” is to apply for an immigration visa ~ back home!

Perry, may have it coming for chosing a bad way to respond in the debate, but when you chime in with a blantanly false statement I must respond.

Please explain your saying “giving them goodies like FREE TUITION”.

Who gets free tutition?

Do you think its a Governor decision to allow children of illegals to go to public school? Not talking college, Grade School.

Would it be more fair to us legal citizens if these students brought to Texas without their own consent (children), who graduated after 3 years in Texas school, who have applied for US citizenship, then pay Non-resident tuition?

Do you understand the basic reasoning for ANY student in Texas to receive the tuition discount?

You’re always diverting attention away from Perry’s policies and attacking somebody else. You have not stated one positive policy of Perry’s. Very Obama like strategy.

Hmm, I do believe we could put some hellfire missiles on those drones and "take out" illegals eh!

It's entirely possible we could make the border look and feel like a WWI warzone. E-ink technology is progressing rapidly so it's possible we will be able to make the border area INVISIBLE ~ the closer they get to it the more it will look like Mexico and they'll get disoriented and turn around.

Honestly, I don’t know anymore.

At first, I thought it was just a poor debate performance.

Then I thought... well, maybe he is running a general election campaign

But now ... heck I don’t know anymore.

Research Palin’s words carefully. In writing, since she talks too fast.

She is for worker registration and a track to citizenship as an incentive to comply. Ie, controlled amnesty

If you can quote Sarah Palin advocating mass deportation please lost a link

How is he going to stop the bleeding? He did a vast majority of the things that he’s been accused of, the facts support it and no amount of apologists on FR is gonna change that.

You and several others here are very passionate about your candidate. I understand that as a Palin supporter that’s 100% behind her. But Perry is at odds with the vast majority of America on the illegal issue and a number of others.

He DID support Gore. He DID oppose the fence. He DID the Guardisil thing. He DID TTC. All these issues I was told less than 1 month ago were ‘BS’ by Perry supporters. But they were not then and they are not now.

Perry choked at the debates because he cannot defend his positions in 49 of the 50 states and has plenty of people in his own right here on FR railing him for them. You guys supported his tuition thing...well, us 48 other states do not. Nor do we back him on the issues above.

And please don’t tell us that without Perry Romney wins. Thats total crap.

Maybe Palin won’t run. Maybe Cain will be the Fred T of 2012. Maybe pigs will fly. But Romney ain’t getting in the white house with his record and neither is Rick Perry. America saw him, heard him and rejected him.

The case is Plyler v. Doe, but it doesn’t mandate illegals in public schools, it only disallowed Texas from unilaterally denying them absent Federal policy.

The Court strongly hinted in both the concurring and dissent that it would view Federal action on this policy in a different light.

And here is Perry’s opportunity to change the subject without backtracking:

He has said his hands are tied at the Federal level. He needs to propose a Federal fix grand enough to change the subject and appeal to Conservatives.

He needs to propose and own the issue of Federal legislation to close the gap created by Plyler. Even I would reconsider Perry if I thought there was a decent shot at a Plyler fix passing a Republican Congress and landing on sympathetic WH desk...

Appeal to conservatives AND start explaining the Fed problem with a proposed fix, and he can turn this issue into an advantage.

Of course, I don’t believe Perry is interested in fixing the problem but he’s going to have to choose, quickly, between going against his grain on this issue, or being President. He won’t have both.

YES!

that’s exactly the kind of thing Perry needs to do!

but will he do it? that’s what I am starting to question.
