McCain apparently flirted with becoming a Dem; I don’t see Christie doing that in NJ]
Actually, in his past, Christie DID just that.
Ronald Reagan was a Democrat, as was Rick Perry. McCain was rumored to have done it far too recently, when any right thinking American would be going the other way. What can I say? McCain is "Palin Approved" and so comfortabley ensconced in the Senate until he decides to retire.
