Rick Perry's led the Republican field in every Southern state that we've polled since he entered the Presidential race...until now. Mitt Romney continues to lead the way in Florida with 30% to 24% for Perry, 10% for Gingrich, 8% for Ron Paul, 7% for Herman Cain, 6% for Michele Bachmann, 3% for Jon Huntsman, 2% for Rick Santorum, and 1% for Gary Johnson.
Perry had a poor debate performance in Florida Thursday night and our results suggest that the negative coverage he received from that did hurt him some in the state. We started this poll on Thursday night before the debate and in those interviews the race was neck and neck with Romney at 33% and Perry at 31%. But in interviews done Friday-Sunday Romney's lead expanded to double digits at 29-19. More telling might be what happened to Perry's favorability numbers after the debate- on Thursday night he was at 63/23 with Florida Republicans. Friday-Sunday he was at 48/36. Perry's poor performance may or may not prove to be a game changer nationally but it definitely appears to have hurt his image in the key state where it occurred.

I blame this on Bachmann, Santorum, and the deluded followers of Palin and Paul.
They are destroying the only viable conservative in the race, while completely and totally ignoring Romney who is 100000 times worse. It's unbelievable, Romney has only been attacked on ONE issue during the debates, Romneycare, and has gotten a free ride on every other single thing he has ever done, while we nit pick the most ridiculous stuff imaginable about Perry.
If this keeps trending towards Willard, he is on his way to the nomination. The next 4 months will fly by.
“They are destroying the only viable conservative in the race, while completely and totally ignoring Romney who is 100000 times worse. “
I think you’re right that we have to turn our attention to Romney.
I think the reason we don’t discuss him too much here is that, on FR, Romney is pretty much a non-starter.
But we need to start compiling a list of his flaws...
There’s just so *many*. Where do we even start!

Hope they enjoy Romney.
People here cheering for Perry to stumble in the delusional thinking that Cain or Palin would be the nominee. Well, what did it get them? ROMNEY
Be happy folks.
I sadly agree.
The media will fight like the dickens to not enable a CAIN win.
FUMR!
This was posted earlier but when I requested it be breaking news, I was ignored. So I posted it. IT is important to let others see that what Sarah Palin said last night of Cain being the flavor of the week...she hit the mark. Cain isn’t going any place. IT’s either Mittens OR Perry...so folks did to make a decision...do they want Obama-lite or the man they have waited for all their adult lives...PERRY.
BUT this time, Bush and the whole conservative movement is attacking Reagan as a liberal and nit picking his record while simultaneously ignoring HW Bush's record.
So in the end we will end up with either Carter or HW Bush.
This is a disaster.
“So is this what the conservatives desire. Mitt Romney.”
No they deserve anything but Obama.
If you chop you arm off in an accident you’ll stuff a shit sandwich in the stump if it will stop the bleeding.Thats where this countrys at.
The checked pants leaders of the so-called Repub party don’t want Cain either . He’s not part of the “ in crowd “ . IOW he’s a true Conservative .
There are conservative voters who say, “No way am I going to vote for this RINO Romney”.
Then there are conservatives who say, “I don’t want to vote for this RINO Romney but even more than that, if we don’t defeat Obama, there won’t be a country anymore...so I’m going to vote for the guy I think is the most likely to beat Obama”. This thinking may, or may not, be valid or accurate but I think this explains the poll numbers.
IF you will click on the link I provided...I’d say any body but Obama-lite, and Obama.
She did? I agree, Sarah. ;^)
Sounds like the RNC went into panic mode when Cain won in Florida, and found themselves another poll.
Look I will vote for the Republican Nominee...just like I voted for McRino....but we don’t have to have Mittens...the race is betwen Mittens or Perry...TAKE YOUR PICK...
They included voters who considered themselves 'somewhat liberal', 'very liberal' and 'moderate'.
At no point do they say how many people were polled. All they give is percentages.
In addition, 'Public Policy Polling' are a liberal group and they admit it.

The last thing a liberal wants is Cain to go up against Obama.

With that said, I agree with the Perry supporters that we need to destroy that establishment RINO Romney. I can't stand that guy.
I don’t want another John McCain because he’s just going to lose anyway.
“Then there are conservatives who say, I dont want to vote for this RINO Romney but even more than that, if we dont defeat Obama, there wont be a country anymore...so Im going to vote for the guy I think is the most likely to beat Obama. This thinking may, or may not, be valid or accurate but I think this explains the poll numbers.”
do you really think Perry can beat Obama?
