Lots of mental acrobatics going on here to pretend Perry would not try to carry on the same open borders policies nationally as he has as governor of Texas. He calls a fence “ridiculous” and opposes mandatory use of e-Verify, both absurd positions for anyone remotely serious about enforcing immigration law. And also the Dream Act thing and he said the Arizona law was “not right for Texas”.

Romney’s using the tenth to justify Romneycare and Perry using it to justify many things related to immigration are both weak excuses.

Both Romney and Perry have albatrosses around theirs necks from their actions as governors on two critical national issues. Does anyone really think Romney would fight to keep Obamacare? Would he sign a repeal of Obamacare if Congress passed it?

These two large negatives look about equal to me and I’d like to see someone else emerge who doesn’t have either of these abatrosses around their necks (Palin or Cain, maybe, but definitely not Christie).

I trust Perry with the border more than anyone else. The others running have never dealt with the Mexico border as Perry has.

Rick Perry on the US Mexico Border with Greta Part 1
Rick Perry on the US Mexico Border with Greta Part 2

Cain's immigration policies are almost identical to Perrys.

In a final op-ed, Herman Cain noted his opposition to the 2007 Comprehensive Immigration reform plan and noted four things that congress could do concerning immigration. These items were to secure the borders convincingly, expand the temporary worker program for skilled legal immigrants, establish a reliable legal immigrant identification program and then propose a reasonable program for the 12 million (and counting) illegal persons who broke our laws to get here, but not amnesty.

In additional interviews, Mr Cain stated that comprehensive immigration reform was a "do nothing" policy which would not solve the problem of illegal immigration. He stated that a Cain administration would do three things: secure the border; enforce the laws; promote the existing path to citizenship.

Perry does NOT favor open borders. You obviously know nothing about TX or you would not be spouting this garbage. I give up! You simply are not informed, as evidenced by the comments you have made. I am from TX and know what he does and what he stands for. Your comments is a misrepresentation.

Your homepage does not say where you are from. You are aware that the border between Texas and Mexico is a river aren’t you? A fence on our side would end Texans use of the river but would not stop the illegals climbing over it. Surely you have seen the night vision videos of the illegal climbers.

Texas cattle drink from that river and the native game animals do the same. A fence does not make sense in most places there. Perry is not in favor of illegal immigration, it is stupid to suggest that he is. He has spent millions of Texas taxpayer dollars on the border and has asked for fed help which was ignored.
