Immigration is the issue (The main reason for Perry's decline)

"Every winner of Florida's Presidency 5 straw poll has gone on to win the GOP nomination. And if that tradition continues this year, Herman Cain will be the Republican nominee in 2012. He overwhelmingly won the straw poll, nabbing 37 percent of the votes. That put Cain more than 20 percentage points ahead of Rick Perry (15 percent) and Mitt Romney (14 percent). … Many of the straw poll delegates expressed frustration at [Perry's] poor debate performance Thursday night, along with irritation at his immigration positions." – National Review Online, Sept. 24, 2011

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

The mainstream media are desperately attempting to gloss over the real reason that Rick Perry self-imploded at the Florida straw poll. It wasn't that his debate performance was poor, although it certainly was. The reason Rick Perry is imitating Fred Thompson's rapid decline from favored frontrunner to candidate-in-crisis is because the debate revealed the depths to which his pro-immigration position runs counter to that of most Republicans.

The various myths about Ellis Island notwithstanding, the American people have always been moderately anti-immigration. While their political elite has studiously labored to replace them with a new and more dependent people for the last 50 years, Americans have never accepted the general concept of open immigration from around the world. More importantly, they know they have been lied to from the very beginning by the advocates of immigration, and they understand that neither the Democratic nor the Republican Party can be trusted to defend their interests versus the interests of the corporations that seek the ever-lower wage rates that come with the expansion of the labor supply.

However, this American distaste for mass immigration was somewhat concealed by the credit-driven real-estate boom of the previous 20 years.

Amazing isn't it!!

I wanted to quote Paragraph 4 - Education and the 1982 Supreme Court Decision...but it's too much for me to type.

Send the illegals and their kids back to Mexico. Control the border with drones armed with machine guns. If Mexico doesn’t contol the drug trade on the border, send American troops into Mexico.

He can say he's sorry about calling you heartless, and you might accept his apology.

But he cannot put the tuition for illegals back into Pandora's box.

It is an accumulation, the man is not very bright and it shows in debate after debate, he has a tin ear, with old folks and treats conservatives like they were butt wipe paper. He takes tax payer dollars and redistribute them to illegals, that is socialism, and then he bitches about social security going broke. At the time supporting spending billions on illegals dropping kids in American hospitals. Then they get food stamps, aid, wic, housing, schooling, medical, dental, etc.all on your heartless dime.

He is a life time politician and has always supported spending on illegals, but he acts shocked that all the money has been spent. The man is a POS.

You really have to ponder this. My aunt and uncle, Matilda and Hans snuck over the Mexican border in 1992 to the great state of Texas. They brought little Hans with them.

They lived with relatives for the first few years and then were able to buy a small farmette. They put their children in school. Little Hans graduated from high school this year, 3rd in his class. He wants to go to college in Texas. He should pay double?? So we should bleed these families that are adding to our population?

Supports a path to citizenship, but no amnesty for illegals. (Oct 2008)

Any legislation that allows illegal aliens to stay and work here is an amnesty. We had a "one time" amnesty in 1986. It didn't work.

This Orwellian use of language to fool and deceive is reprehensible. Obama and McCain are against amnesty as was Bush. They don't consider their legalization of lawbreakers to be an amnesty because the lawbreakers must pay a fine, learn English, and get to the back of the line in an earned path to citizenship. This is pure sophistry. It rewards illegal behavior including identity theft, working illegally, tax evasion, etc. And it is patently unfair to the more than 4 million intending immigrants overseas who have completed all of the necessary paperwork, including background checks and physical examinations and are waiting their turn to enter. Some have been waiting many years.

We must not only prevent the Democrats and some moderate Republicans from hijacking the meaning of the word amnesty, but the public must be made aware about the true impact of an amnesty. The Heritage Foundation concluded that the cost of amnesty alone would be $2.6 trillion. And the number of additional LEGAL immigrants who would join those who were the recipients of amnesty through chain migration, i.e., family reunification, would approach 70 million over a 20-year period, assuming there are only 12 million illegal aliens. We cannot assimilate such numbers. An amnesty would destroy the United States of America with the stroke of a pen.

BBBBBut, immigration is an issue for only 4% of potential voters. I’ve seen polls on this very forum...

Of course, I bet those polls would have been MUCH different if they asked about ILLEGAL Immigration instead of immigration...

They are illegal aliens and should be deported, along with little Hans, in accordance with our laws. It appears that Matilda and Hans worked illegally in this country. Did they pay their taxes? Do they have an SSN? Do they have driver's licenses? Are they still here illegally?

Why didn't Hans and Matilda apply to enter the US legally as immigrants? We don't need lawbreakers who openly flaunt and disregard our laws to be residents. Little Hans should not be allowed to enter state universities supported by federal and state taxes.

Perry lost my vote immediately following his lousy answer as to why illegal immigrants were allowed to get special treatment for in-state tuition. Perry’s answer was lame and nasty, especially calling opposition to it heartless.

Up to that time, he had my vote. Not no more!

Matilda and Hans, although they may be nice people... should legally become citizens. Should the legal Matilda and Hans who live legally in Louisiana, Maryland, or Arizona be forced to pay for out of state tuition for their Hans Jr? Should the illegal Hans Jr be given first choice/advantage over the other Hans Jr? Although in this particular situation, Hans and Matilda may be nice people but “adding” what to our population as a whole? Illegals have brought higher crime, drugs, WIC/HUD/Medicaid payments etc... I can no longer look at illegal immigration on a person or situation by situation. I have to look at the negative affect of 30-50 million of them. Just how I feel.

The illegals can go to college without being given discounts

Illegals should be thrown out of our country. Case closed . . . end of story. No need then to worry about college . . . tah tah, goombah!

Here you go:

“Education. As a result of a 1982 Supreme Court decision, states are required to provide K-12 public education for students without legal immigrant status. New York State is in compliance with this decision. SUNY tuition policy states that undocumented aliens who attend New York high schools for at least 2 years and graduate from them may be eligible for the in-state tuition rate. However, illegal immigrants are ineligible for the tuition assistance program (TAP). “

snuck over the Mexican border in 1992

What is so hard to understand . . . snuck . . . illegal entry . . . should be thrown out immediately and I don't care what anecdotal mish-mash explains their staying here! No sympathy!

Illegal is illegal is illegal.

Ponder this. Hans decided to do a little counterfeiting to supplement the family income, got caught, and ended up in federal prison. The federal prison was in another state, so Matilda moved with Little Hans to that state to be close to Hans while he served his time. Well, now Hans' time has been served, he's been released, and Little Hans has just graduated from high school. The family is moving back to their home state, and Little Hans wants to go to college there. Just one problem, he hasn't lived there since he was a toddler and isn't a resident any more. He should pay double? We should bleed these families that are adding to our population?

Jack and Maria are best friends. Jack is an American while Maria is an illegal alien.
They are hired by the same company.
Their boss tells them to go fetch some water from a well at the top of a hill.
They draw the water and begin walking down the hill, playing grab-a**.
Jack falls down and suffers a severe hematoma.
Maria came tumbling after him.
They spill the water.

Should their employer lay Maria or Jack off?

I predicted that illegal immigration would be a hot-button issue over 15 years ago when more than 70% of those at Newt’s meetings – where I regularly went to gin up support for the Fair Tax (then called the National Retail Sales Tax) — were mad as hell and beating him up on the illegal situation. While he never has come out directly for the Fair Tax, more than once, Newt coupled the two issues by suggesting that the over 100,000 IRS agents be given a weapon and training and sent to guard the border with Mexico. And while many of Newt’s votes on the subject were WRONG, he KNOWS how to couple.

If YOUR critters ARE having meetings – and if not during THIS recess, unless their names are Reid, Pelosi, Graham or Schumer, they will almost certainly have them in the run-up to the election – please think about attending, taking the mike and telling them what YOU think. Even if THEY fail to heed your words, you just may educate the audience to some new problem. Heck, you may even get a heart-warming round of applause.

If nothing else, it’s excellent THEATER to watch some of these folks artfully dodge questions, shuck and jive around a tough issue about which they have absolutely NO knowledge, have their overflowing drool-cups changed by one of their flunkies, etc. so TAKE A CARLOAD with you.

See you there???

Ponder this, it is a safe bet hans mom never paid the first hospital bill for all the little illegals and then they stole a good education at the expense of American citizens. So being a heartless bastard I am all for buying the whole bunch a one-way ticket to their home country.
