Attorneys representing former Alaska governor Sarah Palin have written to Crown Publishing, a division of Random House, serving notice of possible litigation for defamation in connection with Joe McGinnisss recent anti-Palin biography, and warning the company not to delete or destroy relevant documents.

When the story of the McGinnis emails first came out, I write Random House and told them that I sincerely hoped Sarah Palin would end up owning Random House!
I disagree with your reasoning, since she already is a public figure.
On the other hand, I did think when I saw this that it lowered the probability of her runinng — just because I can’t ever remember a politician in a campaign battle actually being in the middle of a defamation suit.
It also seems that by filing suit, she will make every allegation in his book “news-worthy”. Which wouldn’t be a problem in her current position, but could make things more difficult in terms of getting widespread popular support and changing her image in the minds of the independents she needs to get elected, should she be running for President.
But guessing whether Palin is running or not is a fool’s game. She’ll decide one way or another, she’ll announce it, and then we’ll know — and before that, she might as well be Shrodinger’s cat.
The book isn't selling anyway. With all the media attention it has gotten and it's sitting at #157 in books on Amazon and dropping fast. The only people buying this garbage is fringe lefties that so hate Sarah Palin they are unreachable anyway.
My point is, no one cares. The personal attacks on Governor Palin are just old hat now. Every vile thing imaginable has been thrown at her and most people just ignore it now.
If they can get the book pulled in disgrace, good I suppose. I just don't think it matters all that much at this point. Any controversy around the book just draws unnecessary attention to it.
...what about the other family members....tagged in this graffiti?
The private citizen aspect of Sarah Palin’s status, needs some legal clearification. That there was admissions of the false statements in the book opens up litigation to all the principals. This is the reason for the admonition against the deletion of correspondence concerning the case.
The socialists think they can do whatever they want to the ones they hate in this country. They think they are above the law. It would be great if Palin would straighten them out on that misconception.
LMAO, I wouldn’t be surprised if Sarah floated some of these rumors herself to trap that SoB next door neighbor of her’s.
The attention will be that Joe email said that he has no proof of those lies! She will have gaining the support of most decent people who hate people who lie about other people. As I said the unnecessarily attention is the vile nature of the left exposed to the public
I also think she wants to drill down to who may really be behind this mess.
I don't think you fully comprehend The New York Times Co. v. Sullivan
You cannot knowingly print deliberate falsehoods. It is apparent from the posting on Breitbard, that the publish knew, or should reasonably known, that what it was printing about Palin contained unsubstantiated malicious rumors.
PS: George Bush could own CBS, Dan Rather and Mary Mapes, but who’d want them? He shudda sued, on principle.
Agreed! Jon Meachem from Newsweek is the head guy over there and a rabid leftist... if he or others corresponded with leftist talking points in those emails and “other” people outside the Publishing room....oh GOD! Good!

Yes, some PDF doc's you can copy/paste text and others not. This is the latter. There must be a switch in the program that is controlled by the person who copies the letter as a PDF.
Nope,,, not the case at all. She was private when the tort of the book publishing occurred. Has no bearing at all on what she may do in the future. Nice try Perrywinkle.

Discusses Bertelsmann.
He messed with the Governor’s children and messed with her dad. She and Todd will put up with a lot, but when you mess with family they will cut your heart out. This is going to be hell to pay for somebody.
“My point is, no one cares.”
But the fact that we are posting on it and it’s a top news item shows very much that people do in fact care...alot.
game on!
