Cain vs. Obama in 2012? (BET writer anticipates history-making faceoff between two black candidates)
BET ^ | 09/26/2011 | Joyce Jones

Could Herman Cain actually become the person who faces President Obama in the general election? The Republican presidential hopeful is riding high after a surprising and stunning victory in last weekend’s Florida straw poll. He says that the win has given his campaign momentum and is proof that he could go on to win his party’s nomination. I seriously doubt it, but a man can dream, can’t he?

Still, he’s got people talking. There’s no doubt that such a matchup certainly would be one of history’s most interesting and widely watched contests. At one point people never imagined that Obama, or any African-American, would make it to the White House so soon. And Obama's election was part of the reason why Republicans then moved to elect Michael Steele, the first African-American to serve as chairman of the Republican National Committee.

Indeed, Cain and Steele do share some traits. Each knows how to rouse a crowd with a winning smile, sharp wit and straight talk that strikes a chord in the hearts of the conservative faithful. But as Obama has learned in many difficult ways, there’s a huge difference between being a candidate and being in office, and those lessons would give him a distinct advantage, particularly during debates.

It also could provide some very awkward moments. At last week’s Republican debate, Texas Gov. Rick Perry, the presumptive frontrunner, “threw up all over himself,” as the pundits are saying, stumbling in some responses and choking on others. I can’t quite picture Cain doing that, but a good sound bite is not the same as a solution to the nation’s economic problems that the next president will face, whomever he will be. (Yes, he, because Rep. Michele Bachmann may have even less of a chance of becoming the Republican nominee than Cain does at the moment.)

Having to debate Cain would put Obama in an untenable position, too. He’s been through the trenches, but as Joe Biden had to before facing off with Sarah Palin, the president would definitely have to go through some serious debate prep to practice how not to appear superior and condescending to a man who is well liked, no matter what one thinks of his opinions, and several years his senior.

Obama is NOT black, nor is he American. He is half-white, half-African, raised in Indonesia.

Herman Cain is 100% American, pure slave blood. And he is also brilliant.

No only is Cain the possible Republican Candidate, but he is the probable Republican Candidate.

"womever he may be"

I'm sure you meant to say "whoever", Joyce.

This brings me back to the debate problem.

Obama participated in 3 debates which were NOT DEBATES but questions from a moderator.

At no time were GOP candidates allowed to speak directly to Obama and that served to cover his ass.

That wasn't a mistake, either. I suspect Those Who Must Not Be Named mandated that format.

I still say that Cain will take more Black votes from Obama than anyone else would. The Black Americans who are displeased with Zero, could vote for Cain and not have the guilt of not voting for a brotha.

The more I hear Herman Cain, the more I like him....

I think he is the *Real Deal*.
He shows humility
He shows to be a Man of Faith
He shows to be a Man of COnviction
He shows to hold Conservative, Family and Moral values.
He shows to be a MAN that embraces Hard work...
He does not act like a *Know it all* he is open to other’s.

The Fact that he is a Black Man might be an inspiration to the Black Culture that the *Black Family* at one time in the USA was the core of thier success, in a time where racial bigotry stood in the face of many...

For the Caucasion culture, it would show the world that the Rebulican or Tea Party always stood for core american judeo/christian values..
The Constitution...Not the color of a MAN....

Cain/Gingrich might be a great ticket...

No matter what we think of Newt, he is a very smart man.
He knows the game of Politics and Foreign Policy....

Minority voters will have to grow up and face real facts.

All the BS they got away with for so long now will have to end.

Well, it is true that Cain and Steele do have somethings in common, but Cain is more than a talker, and his much more careful in what he says. When he puts his foot in his moth, he learns not to do that again.

The poster from BET is not the sharpest knife in the drawer!!! Nor does he or she know the subject matter very well!!! Herman Cain would wipe up the floor with Obama with one hand tied behind his back!!! Obama is an empty suit, not to mention the fact that he is an African Muslim!!! Plus, Obama is in the beginning slide of falling out badly with his one remaining base, Black Americans. I’ll make simple for the BET folks. There is no way any sane person could confuse the words Jew and Janitors. So....Obama is either insane or high on something!!! Whatever he is, politically he is toast!!!

Exactly! Many blacks are religious and fairly conservative. They vote democRAT because they buy into the BS that the Republican Party is bad, racist, etc. I also think independenats (of which I am one) would vote for Cain in droves.

The last candidate Obama wants to face is another black man.

Cain would run circles around him in a debate.
He sure the f* would. Obozo will end up with Teleprompter Catatonia and they'll have to carry him off the stage, stiff as a board.

For all you blinded by black, take note; for conservatives, its never been about color... want proof? who did you defend President Clinton from? Clinton wheel-&-dealed the black community, as the left always does. Your man Obama is a con-man who takes the Black Caucus for granted and goes so far as to say, “You’ve been lazy and need to get to work supporting meh!” (notice how he can sound blacker in front of a black audience... he’s playin’ you man) His is the Hope of Audacity, cuz that what he was in front of the Black Caucus, Audacious. If you turn and support Cain, shackles will fall, and you’ll see an America flourish again with a real Black Man as President.
