Republican strategist Ed Rollins on Monday downplayed the latest surge in rumors that New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie will jump into the race for the Republican presidential nomination, and instead argued in favor of another possible candidate.
Christie ought to stay running New Jersey, Rollins said on Fox News Kilmeade and Friends radio show.
If I were advising him, I would tell him not to think about [a presidential bid], Rollins said. I cant imagine Gov. Christie spending the next four or five months in the winters of Iowa, traipsing to the places hes got to go in order to be a viable candidate.
Rollins, who was Rep. Michele Bachmann's (R-Minn.) campaign manager until early this month, said the only rumored presidential candidate he believes still viable is former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.
Its never too late for Gov. Palin, Rollins said. She plays by different rules.

Prolly would guarantee a Romney GOP candidacy if she did right now....
They can throw it away and say they used it. ;-)

Well, I guess Halloween is then, in fact, a drop dead deadline, as it were.
It will be an interesting month....
Nope...each candidate has a path to victory....watch and learn....!
>> “I have absolutely no idea which way shes going to go, at this point, but it does seem to me (as someone whod like to see her run) that a final go-no go decision point for a 2012 Presidential run really is coming up in the near future.” <<
.
Were she not running, she would have said so already. She’s no fool, and knows that just fading out would positively end her career.
Thanks for the clarify there.
As I just posted, I guess the waiting game will end on Oct. 31.
I’m almost certain Perry does not want Palin in the race. For similar reasons, Romney very likely does.
Not that I don’t want to believe you, because I do. But we’ve been through several waves of vague rumors here about major announcement from anonymous sources, none of which have proved reliable, so if you can name the source to your rumor, that would be nice.
Nonsense. Getting in the race at this point and trying to win a dozen cable tv debates on various liberal tv networks would be a mistake.
Waiting keeps her from being overexposed.
If she did say that, then it is a flip flop on her previous statement earlier in the summer. Palin should be careful about criticizing others of changing their minds.
>> “Show me where anybody said we should listen to Rollins?” <<
.
Its on page one of the Political Suicide Handbook.
It is what it is...
Romney has no chance.
That’s cold. True, but cold......
We aren’t DU...
Allow me to be the 10,000th person to say “Shut Up Rollins”.
Anybody can beat Zero next fall. The Rove-BushBots will go flat-out ba*#-to-the-wall to get the Mittster the nomination.
Id advise him to lose 200 pounds and become a Conservative.LOL!
Its never too late for Gov. Palin, Rollins said.
