U.S. Government Bought and Sold Weapons During 'Fast and Furious,' Documents Show

In June 2010, however, the ATF dramatically upped the ante, making the U.S. government the actual "seller" of guns.

According to documents obtained by Fox News, Agent John Dodson was ordered to buy four semi-automatic Draco pistols from the Lone Wolf gun store in Peoria, Ariz. An unusual sale, Dodson was sent to the store with a letter of approval from David Voth, an ATF group supervisor.

Dodson then sold the weapons to known illegal buyers, while fellow agents watched from their cars nearby.

Not only did U.S. officials approve, allow and assist in the sale of more than 2,000 guns to the Sinaloa cartel — the federal government used taxpayer money to buy semi-automatic weapons, sold them to criminals and then watched as the guns disappeared.

This disclosure, revealed in documents obtained by Fox News, could undermine the Department of Justice’s previous defense that Operation Fast and Furious was a “botched” operation where agents simply “lost track” of weapons as they were transferred from one illegal buyer to another. Instead, it heightens the culpability of the federal government as Mexico, according to sources, has opened two criminal investigations into the operation that flooded their country with illegal weapons.

The four "pistols" bought and sold were these

Isn't this just the kind of gun that ATF and gun grabbers tell us are only used for crime? Self fulfilling prophecy........

Ever wonder HOW EVIL and risky ATF’s OWN GUYS considered this operation?

The officers who bought the guns in cash insisted on being ordered to do so IN WRITING because they feared they’d **be hung out to dry..!**

I don’t mean gang-bangers or agents —I mean badge-wearing officers —guys who’d show up at the bbq & softball game, etc.

THAT is how evil this operation is.

Go check it out @ Sipsey Street Irregulars —they have the whole thing written up.

I have an honest question here: in all of the reporting going on on this site (more than anywhere else) about F&F, I’m still trying to come up with a reason why anybody would have gone out and deliberately launched such an operation.

The usual reason would be that somebody gets a big-time payoff... but even if that happened (and I expect it did), I would expect that the Mexi-cartels could have gotten their own weapons cheaper — from somewhere.

I just can’t think of any purpose — whether (lefty-)principled or nefarious — for doing this. Can anybody help me with an answer?

One thing crystal clear to me: since Justice department monies, personnel, and resources were spent on this, it’s really gotta go WAY high up in that food chain. If not, people would have fired a LONG time ago.

What’s needed is a Spanish-speaking expert on mexican law to do a little reporting on the Mexican government investigations.

Yes, I’m against illegal immigration, but the idea that the US is supplying weapons to drug cartels used to kill Mexican citizens is utterly disgusting. Shame on the ATF and the DOJ.

From Channel 4 News via Sipsey Street Irregulars:

"The Tucson Tea Party is hosting a "Fast and Furious" Town Hall from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. tonight at the CDO High School's Performance Auditorium. Congressman Paul Gosar, representing Arizona's 1st District, and a member of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, will be at the town hall. A well-known whistleblower for the Fast and Furious program will also be present, organizers say."

This could be VERY interesting tonight!

There is no other way to explain DOJ's weird actions (or inactions).

That's seriously screwed up in the head -- even for liberals. What's next? Order the Dept of Energy to meltdown a nuke reactor so they can ban nuclear power? ... or wait, did they already do that?

Uh, fact is Gun Control WAS the outcome of this.

Obama used this BATF Fast and Furious project as a manufactured “Reichstag Fire” type event to justify an illegal Executive Order forcing gun dealers in border states to report any multiple rifle sales to the Federal Government for permanent recording in a FBI data base.

Several Arizona gun dealers have field law suits against the Federal Government to fight this illegal Executive Order

semi-automatic Draco pistols

Well well well.

This terrible "assault gun" has a pistol grip, short barrel, a magazine greater than 10 rounds, and a folding stock - - all characteristics that the ATF, Democrats, gun grabbers, and the media tell us are so evil.

And yet, our own government uses taxpayer money to funnel these to Mexico.

They did this so that they would be used in crimes, and then the Obamas and the Democrats could tell the media that we need to ban firearm ownership for ordinary citizens.

Great. Just great.

This is a scandal of monumental proportions. There should be scores of prison sentences for government officials that total in the thousands of years for these maniacs.

......but hundreds of guns is a clear attempt to effect political debate, not track gun traffic....

But of course, we knew this from our extensive reading on the case in the MSM, which has covered this scandal in great detail. Any day now, I expect the NYT, or the WaPo, or the BG to break this wide open with some insightful investigative reporting.

Sort of amazing that not one (that's not 1) candidate has heard enough about it to mention it on the stump, isn't it? Maybe it's not too late for the story of the President's shocking hi-jinx in Olde Kenya to come up. It's a real hum-odinga.
