Pakistan's military will not take action against a militant group Washington blames for an attack against its embassy in Kabul, despite mounting American pressure to do so, a Pakistani newspaper reported on Monday.

Pakistan's army chief General Ashfaq Kayani met with his top commanders on Sunday in a "special" meeting to discuss the security situation, the military said, as the war of words with the United States escalated.

That emergency meeting came against the backdrop of sharp US allegations that the Pakistani army's powerful spy agency supported the Haqqani militant group Washington blames for the recent attack on its embassy and other targets in Kabul.

[snip] The United States has long pressed its ally Pakistan to pursue the Haqqani network, one of the most lethal Taliban-allied Afghan groups fighting Western forces in Afghanistan.

KEYWORDS:
Pakistan and terrorism are synonymous. Hillary Clinton and others in our State Department are also synonymous with terrorism....doesn't anyone have the spine or integrity to dump this country as an ally of the USA or at least quit sending aid to them?

Someone else is filling Pakistans purse or they wouldn’t be taking the risk of the US cutting off their steady stream of revenue. Makes you wonder who wants the advantage of their nukes enough to bargan higher.

This is Haqqani’s doing: Jalaluddin Haqqani and its Chief Operating Officer, Siraj Haqqani, Jalaluddin’s son.

This is the Haqqani in a nutshell.

Pretending Pakistan is an ally is, perhaps, one of the greatest acts of foreign policy dishonesty we have engaged in. Unfortunately, it was started under GWB, perhaps out of initial desperation. I will give Obama some (grudging) credit in that he seems to be slowly moving away from that stance. I was shocked with Adm Mullins called a snake a snake at the Congressional hearings the other week.

We never should have allowed Pakistan to acquire nukes. And we are making the same mistake with Iran. This will come back to bite us in the a$$ big time.
