Authorities have confirmed the murder of a Nuevo Laredo newspaper editor whose body decapitated and left with a message not to use social media to report about drug cartels.
It all happened in the Colonia Madero of Nuevo Laredo around 7:45 a.m. Saturday.
According to reports, a woman's body was next to a statue of Christopher Columbus with a message not to use social media to report about drug cartel violence.
The Tamaulipas Attorney General's Office (PGJE) identified the woman's body as 39-year-old Maria Elizabeth Macias-Castro, the editor of Nuevo Laredo's Primera Hora newspaper.
Macias-Castro is the third person in Nuevo Laredo to be murdered and left with a message not to use blogs or social media to report about drug cartels.
The mutilated bodies of two other people were left with a similar message two weeks ago.
Macias-Castro is also among three media professionals to have been killed in Nuevo Laredo in the past three years.
PGJE officials are promising a thorough investigation to find those responsible for Macias-Castro's death.
"The state government expresses it's condolences to family members and loved ones affected by these lamentable acts," PGJE officials said in a statement released Saturday night.
That’s downright scary!
I’m sure that this wouldn’t have happened if greedy American Machete Dealers would quit exporting their instruments of death to our peaceful friends in Mexico.
President 0bama must close the Knife Show loophole too, by Executive Order, if Congress won’t enact legislation to do so immediately..
Yesterday I watched a video of two men being decapitated in Mexico. One with a chainsaw, one with a knife. Not as easy as you’d think. Took some time. Not easy to watch either.
Yup...
But fear does not help
Understanding a problem, then
Developing an actionable plan
That can help
Thank God for the 2nd Amendment.

Ahh, makes sense now. I was wondering if obama & crew needed a "GunRunner" operation to "prove" machetes came from the U.S.
Oh, there was more than guns involved, some real goodies went South by way of New Mexico. When you’re buying a dozen or more AKs or ARs at a time, why not try to get a few blades thrown in with the deal?
It won’t be long before this sort of thing will be common on our side of the border.
The misapplication of both strategic and tactical assets has virtually guaranteed the steady flow of drugs in quantity despite the efforts of some, the reticence at closing off the border makes me wonder who is getting a cut of the action, and in the meantime, our 4th Amendment Rights have been flushed down the toilet.
I'd say that doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result is bad enough, but the loss of our Right to be secure in our person, property, and effects far outshadows the results in interdicting drugs--and I'm about as anti-drug as it gets.
I'm sure in state tuition would help....
The local rag had the gall to reprint an essay by some 16 year old (who described herself as an undocumented student, apparently without irony intended) demanding the usual smorgasbord of goodies.
Nowhere in the piece did “I shouldn’t be in this country” appear, of course.
Does anyone else find it ironic that an American born and raised 10 miles over the Oregon border is entitled to less of a break from the California university system than a Mexican national who has already broken the law by entering the state and/or overstaying a visa?
No Cheers, unfortunately.
We should invade Mexico, farm its lands and extract its oil.
More than ironic...unbelievable...sigh
I know I am going to get flamed. The only solution to the cartels is to get the money out of illegal drugs. Let’s admit that the war on drugs is a failure and just legalize all drugs.
Most of 35 dead Mexicans were criminals
Most of the 35 people whose bodies were dumped beneath a busy overpass in eastern Mexico have been identified and had criminal records, an official says.
“lamentable”
Dear _________ (insert name here: Senora Macias-Castro)
El gobiermento regrets the unfortunate occasion of su esposa having his cabeza removed by narco-terroristas.
Lo siento,
El Presidente ____________ (insert nombre aqui)
...is that why you felt compelled to watch the two executions?
