I’m totally disgusted with Perry’s view on illegals. Typical liberal mentality that when people break the law there shouldn’t be consequences. How much does it cost the state of Texas to tutor kids on English? What is Texas paying for free or reduced breakfast, lunch and dinners for these kids? Now in-state tuition? This argument of giving illegals in-state tuition is bogus unless you want to offer it to American children of other states. After all, you could say that it isn’t their fault their parents aren’t living in Texas. This is what globalization is all about and Perry better wake up and smell the coffee.

That being said, I’d vote for Perry. I would even vote for Romney at this point. But if I could get a Herman Cain that would be even better.

Good post, but too many Freepers have gone blind masturbating over how they can trash Perry without reading the facts - they seem to pay attention to those who boost their position, but won't look at anything that goes against their pre-conceived notions (how very left-wing democratic of them).

I was getting a bit nervous about Perry from all the Freeper trashing going on, then started finding out that most of his thoughts/actions make perfest sense in the imperfect situation the Feds have put America in - especially the border states.

Mass deportations?

Hell yes. Take the whole family and send them all back, granny, chilrun and uncle jose.

If they have to be deported, the penalty will be that they can NEVER legally return.

Start the proceedings and they will head for the border on their own.

The wetbacks will be paying the coyotes to take them south.

So it the children’s fault that they were born in China? Shouldn’t all Chinese children get $100,000 in state aid to attend Texas schools? Shouldn’t Ethiopian kids? Is it their fault they were born in Ethiopia? And why shouldn’t we give Somalian kids welfare? Or South African kids Medicaid? Was it their fault they were born in South Africa?

How about Oklahomans? Is it my fault I was born in Oklahoma?

Perry has met his Waterloo with this subject. You can try to spin it till the cows come home but I ain’t buying it.

When it comes to Hispandering (Dream act amnesty etc), Perry will be W. on steroids if he’s elected.

W. never made such easily decoded open-border pitches as Perry has.

http://governor.state.tx.us/news/speech/10688/

“Today we begin a new dialogue about our shared future, a future of promising potential if we work together to solve the challenges we both face. It is fitting that we convene this summit where the great, meandering river known as the Rio Grande – or the Rio Bravo – forms the long border between Texas and Mexico. In years past, that famed body of water has been seen by many as a dividing point, If you were to walk along its banks and look to the other side, based on the stereotypes of the past, you would think you were seeing things a million miles away, instead of a stone’s throw away. But I am here today to say that while we have honest differences, there is more that unites us than divides us. The Rio Grande does not separate two nations, it joins two peoples. Mexico and the United States have a shared history, and a common future. And it is along this border where we will either fail or succeed in addressing the education, health care and transportation needs of our two peoples.”

Or maybe Governor Romney believes he doesn't need any votes from legal Hispanics and legal immigrants who are wrestling with the real issue of being in a position where their family's future is in question.

If the author believes that pandering to illegals will win the GOP nominee votes from Hispanics and immigrants, he is dead wrong. McCain aka the "Amnesty King," got 35% of the Hispanic vote. Immigrants and minorities vote overwhelmingly Democrat.

Immigration, Political Realignment, and the Demise of Republican Political Prospects

I’m not actually worried about whether or not its the child’s fault.
I want to make illegals so miserable that they self-deport.
You don’t do this by giving their kids “in-state tuition” to your colleges.

.

Educating them gets them working and contributing to the state's treasury faster, and is more meaningful than letting them sit on the sidelines

How can these young adults **work** here if they are **illegal**??? Am I missing something?

Maybe the proper action to take would be to work with the Mexican government to get these young adults repatriated with their own country and reunited with the family that remained behind in their country.

This is the standard problem in a race. Perry has a long record of actually having to work in government, making executive decisions, working with a legislature, having a mixed group of constituents and dealing with hot button topics like immigration, health care, and regulation.

The other candidates are debate society candidates. They have little or no executive record (Romney is the exception) and basically are all talk. Perry has actually had a real job.

Since FR is an anti-Perry site, I think it’s probably a waste of time to post any pro-Perry articles. You get the same yada yada from the usual suspects who, for the most part, will not admit to a candidate of their own to support.

There was actually an anti-Perry who said Perry was like Dukasis. That’s how absurd it’s become. Where I live, I couldn’t find a handful of people that didn’t think George Bush, John McCain and Rick Perry were right-wingers. That includes Democrats AND Republicans. On FR, those 3 are considered not much different than Obama.

It’s a shame.

Sorry but Perry can’t have it both ways... Just looking at the guy he looks like and sounds like a fraud and a phony. Just like Romney...

We need a real conservative who is not going to sell us out. I don’t get that feeling around Perry or Romney.

Here is what happens-—

Maria lives in Mexico and her son Jose is 14. She phones up her sister Betty who lives in Texas and says, “I hear Jose can get scholarships, affirmative action and stuff and only pay the instate rate on tuition like he is a real Texan. Betty can you take Jose in for a few years of high school until he goes to that fancy Texas college in Austin? I will send you money each month and tell everyone he is your son not mine”

So Jose is smuggled over the border and gets free high school education that the muy estupido Anglos pay for plus he gets bargain basement college tuition rates that the muy estupido Anglos pay for. Plus he scores affirmative action preferences and a Hispanics only scholarship like the kind the Bill Gates Foundation gives out.
