Krauthammer declares Romney most conservative candidate who can win thus far Jeff Poor - The Daily Caller 1 hr 21 mins ago
Although were some 14 months out of the 2012 presidential election, knowing who will be facing President Barack Obama is still up in the air.
Texas Gov. Rick Perrya initial splash upon entering the field of Republican candidates garnered him a lot of attention and a bump in the polls, but some are saying that the luster has worn off. On this weekends broadcast of Inside Washington, Washington Post columnist Charles Krauthammer, who admitted he wasnt sold on Perry, seems to be leaning toward former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney.
I think what has been said is correct Romney is polished, Krauthammer offered. In the end, Republicans are going to have to decide whether they want authenticity or electability. And that is really where it is. I mean, it often is a choice. Democrats have had that in the past with Howard Dean and others. You often have to come down and say, Which way are you going to go? Do you want the guy that you can rely on ideologically on everything or with the guy that might have a better chance of winning?
And according to Krauthammer, Romney seems to have the edge when it comes to applying the so-called William Buckley rule.

Everyone on “Red Eye” last night were saying the same thing, I had to turn it off.
Krauthammer, a Scoop Jackson/Jimmy Carter neocon godfather, loves Romney. What a surprise!!
I prefer ALL the other candidates to Romney but will vote for him if he is the candidate. I will not waste a vote on a write in or third party candidate. ANYONE is better than Obama.
She has no right to enter this race, because she has not conformed to the rules laid out by state-controlled media.
STAY OUT OF THE RACE, SARAH PALIN! LEAVE MITT ROMNEY ALONE!!!
You're not the only one.
Turned it off before the half time report, pretty much agenda driven it was last night.
Well, in Krauthammers world, Romney is at least somewhat conservative because he is a low tax low regulation guy and he would probably continue war on terror at least to the level of Bush - and perhaps even roll back some of the political correct constraints on that. And I’m sure his switch to pro life language is good enough for Krauthammer.
And remember, according to folks like Krauthammer and Dick Morris and others who supported McCain in 08 - it was because Romney was too conservative and too much aligned with the “Republican Brand” that made McCain the “most electable.”
And of course, we see how that worked out...
H*ll, they're responsible in large part for the fix we're in.
ROFLMAOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!!
Get behind a conservative for a change, people!
Sadly, I believe he is right at this point. In another three weeks I expect Palin to win—and she’ll push the winnable conservative meter distinctly up and to the right.
Charles of course not only missed backing Reagan in the ‘70s and ‘80s, but he’d miss a more-electable-because-he/she-is-a-real-conservative candidate every time.
I’m not holding my breath for him to recognize that Palin will give us a better opportunity to win than Mittens would.
Based on his views of the 2nd Amendment, it’s hard to consider Krauthammer a conservative Democrat.
Good analysis. Of course, Krauthammer is right in one sense. He wants a sure “winner” albeit one who can be infuenced in the “right direction” by well-placed handlers. Silly putty Romney fits the bill perfectly.
Romney is not conservative. He’s not liberal either.
I don’t think he knows his philosophy.
I don’t know why he is running for President.
There must be a deep seated father complex
with his dad the late Gov. Romney of Michigan who ran for
President in 1968.
He left MA after 4 years — too chicken to run —and we had to put up with Deval Patrick, or mini Obama.
With McCain, I knew why he is running for President.
what burns inside. It was his life story. his POW time.
With Romney, he is acting like it’s another buyout.
another merger or aquisition.
There are serious questions as to his motives.
He didn’t have a job the last four years. He just was running
for President.
We are doomed if it’s Romney.
We will have to have someone with the strength
of Zeus to get the Obamacare repeal through Congress.
Oh great he will let the states opt out of Obamacare his first day.
That is making law through the executive. Two wrongs don’t make a
right
It will still bankrupt us, stll free birth control, 2.5 trillion. Subsidies
to $80,000 income of 10,000 dollars for insurance if you are on
the public exchange. If you have employer based NADA. only your
tax exemption.
Believe me, he wasn’t even a good executive.
He didn’t fix the Longfellow Bridge. He said he would do it and it
didn’t happen in his 4 years.
He will be a disaster.
I’m warning you all.
Oh no doubt Krauthammer leans towards the “safe” and “reasonable” beltway type candidate for sure.
I still find it ironic that Mitt was too Republican and too conservative for 2008 according to the Morris/Krauthammer/Frank Luntz set last time. They don’t want us remembering this.
It’s also ironic that Mitt is misreading this. If anything, he has strayed more to the center since 08 and the country’s mood and the tea party primary voters’ mood is certainly more to the right (thanks to Obama).
Sarah’s coming Chuck.
And, she has no ties to your precious Northeast, the Beltway or the Ivy League.
Most of all, she doesn’t need your stamp of approval.
Krauthammer was not only wrong about Reagan, he was a speech-writer for Vice President Walter Mondale!
Carville(D):
"It's a feel-good story, this Romney thing.
Romney is an ascendant guy."
Sen. John Kerry (D) to Don Imus on RomneyCARE:
"I like this health care bill".
Sen. Hillary Clinton (D) on RomneyCARE:
"To come up with a bipartisan plan in this polarized environment is commendable."

I am confused.
Should you not have to be a CONSERVATIVE to be named the conservative candidate???
Just say no to Romney -Democrat Lite
