I just cannot vote for Romney. I might be able to vote for Perry, but what a disappointment knowing that we could have started the Republic back on the right road but instead we will be going down the same road, only slower.
I like Herman Cain, but I really like Sarah Palin for this job.
Ok let's say a Russian legally immigrates to Texas and brings his 12 year old. He works at an office downtown and his kid goes to public school, gets good grades and decides he wants to be an American and begins the process of being one, he still can't be considered a resident of that state, right?
I would actually say if either kid from either situation came to Texas and this same scenario played out, I would say both deserve in state tuition but would have to pay out of state tuition to go to say Michigan or Ohio State.
You swallowed Romney's BS argument without thinking it through.
Perry simply signed an unvetoable law passed by the state legislature, and guess what? If Arizona or California signed the same law into effect, those kids would pay out of state tuition to attend as Texas college because they would be California or Arizona residents.
Mark Levin, on his show 9/23/11:
“They [children of illegals] ARE being educated, right up to and through high school.
Where did it come to pass that if you’re here illegally, you have a right to a college education, let alone the right to have it subsidized, when all Americans do NOT have their college educations subsidized?
I mean, this is perverse, to be honest with you.”
Um, no.
>>So what you are saying is that if an illegal brings his kid over at say, age 12, and this kid and his dad are not deported by the Feds (States can’t do it) and this kid spends the next 6 years in a tax payer public school, learns english, gets grades good enough to get into a state college, is working to become an American Citizen and has paid the state taxes in that state for the last 6 years (sales tax and so on) he should still not be considered a resident of that state.
<<
EXACTLY RIGHT.
Exactly what about “illegal” do you and the Perrybots NOT UNDERSTAND?
Why are we REWARDING people who break our nation’s laws, and giving them an incentive to flood our borders even more?
Pull your head out, man.

>> I said they should be treated exactly the same as any other state resident<<
WHY should illegals be treated EXACTLY THE SAME as legal citizens? This is the insanity that is destroying this country.
They close our hospitals, drain our resources, are a HUGE burden on us financially, and you want us to subsidize their education on top of everything else.
IDIOCY. If you believe that, you belong in the Democrat party. Sheer liberal stupidity.
I agree with this:

You can bitch all you want to but the Supreme Court ruled on this issue 30 years ago. They are covered by the 14th Amendment and must be given equal treatment. I don't happen to like it but I will abide by the law of the land.
I don't expect this country will ever have the political will to send them all back. I think the best we can hope for is to secure the border so they stop coming.
Originally, you didn't like that they got “special” treatment. Now, you don't want them to get the “exact same” treatment. Good luck and good night, FRiend.
The application of Plyler v. Doe has been limited to K-12 schooling, NOT COLLEGE EDUCATION.
Obamacare is the law of the land too.And like this crap, it is an abomination that should be REPEALED, not DEFENDED, as Perry is doing.
It is the very fact that Perry defends this and calls opponents “heartless” that reveals the dark inner workings of Perry, and reveal him to be the liberal he is.
You don’t have a problem with that, apparently. That is your shame and your problem. Vote for Perry if you are in the toilet for him. Help yourself.
You also failed to answer the question. Probably because you have no answer.
Here is the question again:
“Where did it come to pass that if youre here illegally, you have a right to a college education, let alone the right to have it subsidized, when all Americans do NOT have their college educations subsidized?”
Well? I await your answer.
Meh. I think we’ll know better once the post debate polling comes in.
Ain’t she said that she’d announce sometime in September? There’s only five days left, you know.
Interesting. Cain might have just made himself a viable candidate. I wonder where he drew his support from?
It’s a straw poll...Bachmann won the last straw poll...and scored 1.5 percent in this poll...so I wouldn’t count on that.
Where did it come to pass that if youre here illegally, you have a right to a college education, let alone the right to have it subsidized, when all Americans do NOT have their college educations subsidized?
Here we go. Texas legislator voted 181-4 in 2001 to give college instate tuition to all Texas residents. Yes, Perry supports this law. I can take it or leave it. Illegals account for about 1% of Texas college students. I guess that's what you call a subsidy.
You want to fight a 30 year old war or a 10 year old war? Be my guest but there's about 50 important issues in this election and I find Perry to be the most conservative candidate on most of them. This one seems to be the only one you care about but I'll tell you something.
For all their BS in the debates, absolutely no one will work harder or do more to close the border than Perry. He'll send the troops. The rest of these candidates are just playing lip service IMO.
Other than Perry, only Cain interests me but I'm not sure he's ready. Also, he's had very little to answer about because no one has asked him much. We might find that other than economics policies, he's a blank slate. He might make an interesting VP.
Tell me what "subsidies" are taking place here?
The kid PAYS tuition just like any other resident of the state. The same exact amount. No more, no less.
There are no "subsidies."
People are running around crying that these students are getting some type of bonus deal and attending "free college."
That's outright horsesh*t.
These kids are not legal residents of Texas, therefore it is a subsidy. They are not more legal residents of Texas than a kid who lives in Nevada.
Texas cannot deport the illegals, do you understand that? Huh? The Feds have to catch them and then go through the deportation process.
Those illegals ARE residents of Texas! Are you that freaking obtuse? Those children of illegals are trying to become legal! They are not sitting around the 7-11 doing day labor.
If you think Palin or any other candidate for President is going to deport 12 million illegals and their children you are blind. Palin herself said it would be inhumane.
The natural question at the state level is "what do you do with the children of illegals?"
I personally have no problem with deportation but it aint ever, EVER, goin to happen. Now how do we deal with it?
Your a lost cause anyway because you probably believe Bachman will build a 2000 mile fence, cede the Rio Grande to Mexico, use eminent domain to take ranchers land to build it, stretch it through BIg Bend National Park, deport 12 million illegals and their children and then all will be well.
Sarah Palin herself is for a path to citizenship, she said so on Univision. Pull your head out and start backing the guy who creates jobs, is pro life, pro 2nd Amendment, NRA member, ex-military officer who knows what the border needs.
