Members of the conservative gay rights group GOProud are demanding an apology from Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum for what they call his disrespectful comments directed at a gay soldier in Thursday night's GOP presidential debate.
"Tonight, Rick Santorum disrespected our brave men and women in uniform, and he owes Stephen Hill, the gay soldier who asked him the question about Don't Ask, Don't Tell repeal, an immediate apology," said GOProud's Christopher Barron and Jimmy LaSalvia in a Thursday night press release.
During the Fox News/Google-sponsored debate, which took place in Orlando, Florida, a gay soldier deployed in Iraq asked the candidates if they would take measures to "circumvent" the repeal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell," if elected president.
Some audience members audibly booed the soldier -- a moment the GOP candidates on stage chose to ignore.
GOProud also noted that Santorum, who answered the question, declined to thank the soldier for his service, and called the repeal of DADT "social experimentation" - and "tragic."
"I would say any type of sexual activity has absolutely no place in the military," Santorum responded. "And the fact that they're making a point to include it as a provision within the military that we are going to recognize a group of people and give them a special privilege to -- and removing 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell,' I think tries to inject social policy into the military. And the military's job is to do one thing, and that is to defend our country."

There are plenty of members of the US military I would boo, and this activist faggot Hill is one of them.
Exactly.
Good luck on getting trumandogz to answer that.
I’ve been directly asking him that for over an hour now. He won’t answer.
He’s so predictable though. He’ll respond with “So, would you scrape their names off the Vietnam Wall”?
I think the two people that booed, booed the question.
Sometimes these threads get "hot" and it's hard to tell what's going on.
"THANK YOU!
Finally, a voice of reason. (You know we will both be called liberals, now, don't you?)
Yes...but I do that the GOVERNMENT should not be in the bedroom (yes, I'm a libertarian Conservative!). Why can't Gays be CONSERVATIVE. They can and they are...
People are no longer taught to think of actions and reactions, choices and consequences.
I used to tell my kids, "You'll be an adult when you can accept the consequences of your actions". Now that they're adults, they "get it".
Rick Santorum has been a prime target of gays for years now. They organized effectively to see that he lost his Senate seat in PA. It was a highly publicized goal of the ‘gay community,’ and it’s not about to stop any time soon.
Never say never.
This was not an appropriate venue for booing ANYONE. The questions were not by hecklers, but by people chosen to ask questions. The audience should simply let the questions and answers roll out.
(FTR, I saw this live and thought at first the guy was going to complain about the repeal of DADT and that the crowd was SUPPORTING him, then realized he was shilling for open homosexuality. Regardless. See above.)
I can certainly think of times when it would be appropriate to boo a soldier who is not, then, in the performance of duty or appearing in his official capacity. If I were present when John Kerry or Bradley Manning started on an anti-military rant, I wouldn’t see any problem with expressing disagreement, depending on the setting.
If you think GAYS can't be REPUBLICAN (or Conservative) you are most wrong!!
They should’ve asked Ron Paul this question, seeing he’s the only one up there that voted FOR the DADT repeal.
The Office of the President of the United States also deserves respect.
I think this extends to its present occupant, whoever that is.
I don’t enjoy seeing the President get booed or laughed at in person because I think that demeans the office. However, there occasionally are situations where the expression of disapproval within the crowd or audience, within limits, is acceptable.
I still don’t understand what it is that these people claim to be so “proud” of.
Seriously.
The type of sex acts they’re inclined to engage in is a matter of “PRIDE”?
They say this is the only difference between them and heterosexuals, so this must be the thing they are “proud” of and want to march for and tell the world about at every opportunity.
Right??
The GOProud’s sole interest and agenda is in pushing the homo-agenda. They like lower taxes a bit and have some lukewarm words of support about 2nd Amendment rights and other than that, it’s all homo-agenda, 100%.
They’re utterly loathesome.
John Kerry.
Bradley Manning.
It happens.
Your statement was:
I would have thanked the solider for his service. ___________ or not, the dude is putting his life on the line.Which crimes, immoral actions and vices do you find acceptable in that statement above?
GOProud are nothing more than covert operatives, planted there by the Democratic party to cause dissension among the Republicans.
It is the old tried and true tactic of ‘Divide and Conquer’!
You are talking about fiscal conservatives (can be as socially liberal on issues as Obama!!!) vs social conservatives (not liberal on fiscal or social issues).
That is one of the concerns about Perry. Noone is overyly concerned on the fiscal side. however, he is squishy on a MAJOR social issue.
you can not support in-state tuition for illegals, or gay marriage, gays in the Military,,or RombamaCare or any number of pro-regressive issues and be a social conservative... In my not so humble opinion.
I’m so sorry that you spent all that time typing something so inanely stupid.
Are you really equating gays with murderers?
