Yesterday I wrote a vignette in jest suggesting what New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie might be yelling at his TV during the GOP debate. Unlike his alter-ego in my vignette, the real Bill Kristol did not call Christie to plead nor drive over to his house to urge him to get into the race. Instead he used his Web site , figuratively speaking, to run over Texas Gov. Rick Perry with an 18-wheeler and drive through Christies living room window:
With nine candidates on the stage, and answers restricted to one minute, its hard to really show your stuff. And two of the candidate Rick Santorum and Mitt Romney did provide respectable performances. But no front-runner in a presidential field has ever, we imagine, had as weak a showing as Rick Perry. It was close to a disqualifying two hours for him. Bills solution: A big man for a big job. And you know who that is.

Perry lost 99.9999% of the Tea Party vote last night? Really? Did you conduct real scientific polls of thousands of Tea Party folks and concluded that Perry lost 99.999% of them? Please share the polls with us. LOL....

Nah. Milt has to answer for dog abuse,
really bad murderer-freeing judges,
and a penchant for very bad moments
of "judgment" that cost citizens billions
and what was once .. freedom.
Other than that ...
"But the details of the event are more than unseemly - they may, in fact, be illegal. Massachusetts's animal cruelty laws specifically prohibit anyone from carrying an animal "in or upon a vehicle, or otherwise, in an unnecessarily cruel or inhuman manner or in a way and manner which might endanger the animal carried thereon. "An officer for the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals responded to a description of the situation saying "it's definitely something I'd want to check out." The officer, Nadia Branca, declined to give a definitive opinion on whether Romney broke the law but did note that it's against state law to have a dog in an open bed of a pick-up truck, and "if the dog was being carried in a way that endangers it, that would be illegal."
"Dog on Roof? What Was It Like for Romney's Pooch? - Scientists Say Dog Likely Experienced Wind-Whipped, Uncomfortable Trip - "Before beginning the drive, Mitt Romney put Seamus, the family's hulking Irish setter, in a dog carrier and attached it to the station wagon's roof rack. e'd built a windshield for the carrier, to make the ride more comfortable for the dog,".. Jordan Kaplan, the owner of Petaholics, a dog walking service in New York City,
and a lifelong dog owner and dog lover, said Romney's actions were uncalled for"
"Romney's dog - This is a distinction Mitt Romney probably could do without, but he is surely the first presidential candidate to be attacked for putting a dog with diarrhea in a carrier and tying it to the top of a station wagon. Romney's defense: Seamus liked it. [like the citizens under Romney's RomneyCARE, etc.?] "
"As the oldest son, Tagg Romney commandeered the way-back of the wagon, keeping his eyes fixed out the rear window, where he glimpsed the first sign of trouble. ''Dad!'' he yelled. ''Gross!'' A brown liquid was dripping down the back window, payback from an Irish setter who'd been riding on the roof in the wind for hours. As the rest of the boys joined in the howls of disgust, Romney coolly pulled off the highway and into a service station. There, he borrowed a hose, washed down Seamus and the car, then hopped back onto the highway."
"Story about dog on car roof comes back to bite Romney - 200 comments from readers complaining of animal cruelty"
Romney's bad behavior Exposed by Seamus
"Romney Loses Nomination Over Dog Abuse? - Romney was traveling that summer with his wife, five sons, and Seamus to his parent's cottage on Lake Huron. But hours into the ride, Seamus apparently suffered diarrhea, which ran down the back window of the car. .David Kravitz wrote on BlueMassGroup, a liberal blog. "It also strikes me as classic Romney: it solves a problem efficiently, in a business-like manner, and with no regard whatsoever for the suffering that the solution may cause."

Christie has the same problem as Romney....History!
When was the last time a Northeastern Republican won a presidential race?
Northeastern liberals can not win....liberals and moderates can not win running as a moderate....Republicans win when they run as conservatives whether they are or not.

I'm not so sure of the Perry "collapse".
My daughter and her family love him and haven't changed their mind. Also, people that I work with also are going for him.

[Romney, in my book, is worse than Perry - regardless, of who did or didnt win a stupid debate.]
Yep. I’ve pretty much resigned myself that Romney is going to be the nominee. He is smooth, and he is also a liar. We can thank fellow conservatives when Romney start appointing liberal judges to the courts.

he did make Mitt look like The Gipper by comparison, which is quite a neat trick

One thing Palin has is impeccable timing. She always drops in for a precision strike at just the right moment. Like when the Dow is at 6000 and unemployment is above 15%.

......no front-runner in a presidential field has ever had as weak a showing as Rick Perry. It was close to a disqualifying two hours for him..... Appearances to the contrary, Rick Perry was NOT drunk at last nights debate.
Its just that before taking the stage he chose to receive a Gardasil shot, whose known side effects are mental slowness.....and an overwhelming urge to commit political suicide...........

this is where i disagree with you and i have this argument with libs who say “did you see the GOP debate” as though it is the end all...
as i tell them i vote on one’s record rather than their debating skills, it prevents having dumb-asses occupying the WH like the one that presently is squatting there- a great debater he was- of course the other 99.9% of him is totally incompetent....
granted Perry’s record has issues but i’m willing to deal with them rather than risk four more years of the squatter presently at 1600 Penn Ave...

I think the term "collapse" is not applicable. However, Perry's performance did not inspire people to rush out and vote for him. I am putting any support for Perry on hold until he hardens up his stance on immigration.
The intellectually strongest in the field is Gingrich. It is a shame he carries so much baggage.

Like it or not, debate performance matters and it matters big time. There is a large demographic called the mushy middle who fancies themselves as the independent kingmakers in this country. A lot of them are barely smarter than dolts, but they vote in large numbers.
Perry not only shot himself in the foot with these people for his poor debate performance, he shot himself in the foot with conservatives for his stubborn defense of incentives for illegal aliens to stay in Texas and increase their footprint. That's a nonstarter for many conservatives just as much as Romney's stubborn defense of socialized medicine is a nonstarter.
All things considered, it might even be worse. Romney knows he has a problem with conservatives so might have to throw us an occasional bone. Perry thinks he can take us for granted so assumes we will put up with him on one issue such as open borders.

I guess I am one of those fools who is writing Perry off. I am (in Perry’s words) heartless. I am against illegals receiving a college education on my dime.
That one statement sank his chances of the nomination.
It is going to make a good television commercial for his opponents.
No President should support illegal behavior.
I was in favor of Perry, but no more.
I also did not like his smirks, and his body language. it was creepy.
