There was one declared candidate who had a chance to unite the Tea Party and establishment wings of the party -- Rick Perry. I guess in a way he did unite them. They both decided to destroy him, and he was woefully unprepared to defend himself.
Perry's not out yet. But he has some major work to do. I don't think he expected the GOP party establishment (and the other Republican candidates) to do Romney's bidding for him. He expected a fair fight. He now knows what he's up against. Can he correct in time is the question.
