Newt Gingrich
Gingrich served as Speaker of the United States House of Representatives from 1995 to 1999. He represented Georgia's 6th congressional district as a Republican member from 1979 to 1999. He has a PhD in modern European history.

I disagree I think Herman Cain is electable. The morons are going to stay home once the money runs out and they don't get no more welfare!
Secretly, they are all hoping to her her VP!
Google’s in big trouble with the Feds for sponsoring this debate.
That is because Romney is a creep!
Cain proves the point I’ve made for years, that what you look for in a President is the quality of character, not the amount of mush in their skulls.
Newt is a darn good speaker!!!
When I moved to Texas in 2007 I was enraged that illegals got instate and we had to pay non resident tuition until we met the legal requirements for residency.
My understanding is that only about 1% of enrollments are these kids of illegals.
99% are not.
Is this really a as big of an issue as we’ve made it to be?
What is a better workable alternative, considering that the feds don’t allow quick deportment.
Illegal immigration is important because a wave of unassimilated foreigners from an alien political culture gaining citizenship would swamp our political system. Tuition rates have nothing to do with any path to citizenship which isn't a matter Perry has any influence over. Nothing he has ever advocated threatens to make the risk to our system of illegal immigration even slightly greater. Anyone who thinks that the lure of instate tuition is a big draw for immigrants is a lunatic.
Perry would be neither more nor less likely than any other Republican President to address our illegal immigration problem effectively. He would probably be less hostile to immigration enforcement than either Obama or Bush. There is no reason to believe he would push for “comprehensive immigration reform.” The next President, like the current one, will have much more pressing matters to attend to.
The whole immigration argument is a silly distraction staged for the purpose of promoting Romney's candidacy and the perpetuation of the status quo. It's a shame to see so many conservatives taking the bait.
Yeah, but Perry is such a bad debater (at least from what I've seen in these presidential debates) he can't put any of these issues to bed. I mean, he just leaves giant holes for his opponents to continue tearing him to pieces.
Our candidate is going to have a billion dollars machine out to destroy them, and if they can't handle debates like this they'll never make it against Hussein.
I think Newt had the best answer, though yeah, it was a pretty meaningless segment. The most important characteristic is someone who could step in at any time and be an effective President of the United States.
I think he has, too.
I don’t like to say this, but we are really screwed.
32% of idiots in this country still think Obama is doing a good job.
Herman Cain is one heck of a great debater. I wish he would get some traction.
That did not answer the question!
4 years of the obamessiah or 4 years of _____________?
Yes, Cain had a great night and is my front runner so far. Perry & Romney brought out the worst in each other.
That did not answer the question!
4 years of the obamessiah or 4 years of _____________?
I loved how Bachmann took the total amount of time possible and didnt answer it in any way, just kept talking about stuff.
VP CHOICE:
Mitt Romney: Who would you take for VP?
Avoids answering with two jokes.
Copies Gingrich (won’t choose because others would be hurt)
FOX being very deep in the tank for Romney,
has to give Romney even more time,
so Romney has a followup, where FOX NEWS
first calls Perry “unelectable”.
Romney is allowed to speak, rambles.
Ms. Bachmann: Who would you take for VP?
would take strong conservative.
Mr. Cain: Who would you take for VP?
Answers in creative rhyme, cloning
Romney and Gingrich.
END: FOX GIVES IT TO ROMNEY AND PERRY
and dismisses Perry’s comments vs. Romney
(regarding his book).
and makes light of RomneyCARE.
Idiots. That is the phrase that kept going through my head tonight. Idiots.
They are literally destroying each other. Obambi and Axelrod have to be sitting in the White House tonight laughing themselves silly.
The GOP establishment has to be awfully pleased as well now that Romney will be the prohibitive front-runner.
Congrats to them, I guess. They win again. America loses.
I’ve been a Herman fan for a long time but I don’t think we can risk a man of his age and medical history at the top of the ticket because America is teetering on the precipice. But I’ll predict here and now that Herman is the next VP of the United States.
