A former biology professor accused of killing three colleagues and wounding three others at the University of Alabama in Huntsville has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity in the shooting.

Authorities say Bishop pulled out a gun and opened fire during a February 2010 faculty meeting, killing three professors and wounding three colleagues.

After the slayings, Bishop also was charged with killing her teenage brother in Massachusetts in a shooting that originally was ruled an accident in 1986.

Nope Nope she killed her brother too. She’s not insane, legally, she’s evil. Plain and simple.

She went far, academically. Lots of smarts, but something is wrong and you can tell that from her picture even if you didn’t already know it.

Insanity means at the time, you are so out of touch with reality, you did not realize what you were doing and you did not realize it was wrong.

Calculation, and planning, and attempting to cover up or escape the consequences of your actions are usually winning points against an insanity defense.

“She looks like Congresscritter Betty McCollum’s (more) deranged sister.”

I was thinking more like Moe Howard of Three Stooges Fame

She is a liberal, which means she is, by definition (as a liberal), deranged.

Liberals support gun control because they know that if THEY are allowed access to guns, this kind of thing will happen.

The logical conclusion is that anyone who self-identifies as a liberal should be institutionalized for public safety reasons. :^)

On “All leftists are insane” grounds, I would agree ... but she knew what she was doing. Lock her up and throw away the key.

Gallows at Ft. Smith
A dignified exit ceremony with her own public platform complimented by hymn singing would be more appropriate in her case.

From Wikipedia:

Previous incidents

Bishop had previous encounters with law enforcement officials due to "an outburst or violent act" on her part.[11] In each instance, she remained "unscathed" and did not come to the attention of the UAHuntsville administration or other employers.[11]

She shot her brother with a shotgun, killing him, in 1986, in what was initially ruled an accident based on her mother's testimony and was therefore not charged.

In 1994, she and her husband were questioned regarding a letter-bomb incident involving a doctor at a facility at which she had previously been employed.

She was charged with assault after striking a woman in the head during a dispute at a restaurant in 2002, but was never officially found guilty.[11]

A dangerously violent person who consistently escaped consequences.

I like Vigilanteman’s suggestion, although I’m more of a firing squad person, myself, if someone absolutely must be removed. It’s unfortunate that our “justice” system makes it impossible to guarantee, or even reasonably suggest, that a convicted person can be prevented from doing future serious harm to others.

In her case no one appeared to be immune to her hatred. She has a long history of murder and violence that one very rarely sees. Any time that she feels frustrated her anger seems to explode, and I don't imagine that, particularly at her age, she is going to change. She's one of those people that might very well attempt to arrange the murder of someone while she is in prison. For that reason, I believe that the death penalty is not only appropriate, but necessary for the protection of society.

The method doesn't matter to me so much. I'm fine with an injection.

Only one eyewitness has come forward to say Amy did it. What about the other seven witnesses? Where is the forensic evidence that ties her to the crime? What about that other person led away in handcuffs that day found with expended shell casings in their pocket? The media doesn’t tell you about that, do they?
