HUNTSVILLE, Texas — White supremacist gang member Lawrence Russell Brewer was executed Wednesday evening for the infamous dragging death slaying of James Byrd Jr., a black man from East Texas.
Byrd, 49, was chained to the back of a pickup truck and pulled whip-like to his death along a bumpy asphalt road in one of the most grisly hate crime murders in recent Texas history.
Brewer, 44, was asked if he had any final words, to which he replied: "No. I have no final statement."
He glanced at his parents watching through a nearby window, took several deep breaths and closed his eyes. A single tear hung on the edge of his right eye as he was pronounced dead at 6:21 p.m., 10 minutes after the lethal drugs began flowing into his arms, both covered with intricate black tattoos.
Byrd's sisters also were among the witnesses in an adjacent room.
"Hopefully, today's execution of Brewer can remind all of us that racial hatred and prejudice leads to terrible consequence for the victim, the victim's family, for the perpetrator and for the perpetrator's family," Clara Taylor, one of Byrd's sisters, said.

Not saying he did not deserve the death penalty, but I just kind of like to see consistency in the principles these activists hold dear.
And now the Supreme Court needs to quit messin’ with Texas and allow the righteous punishment to be carried out on both Cleve Foster and Duane Buck. A meddlesome Supreme Court has wrought so many damages on our Republic over the years.
If it’d been up to the Leftwingtards this guy would have been out of jail years ago once he’d served 60 days for a “hate crime” misdemeanor!

We had a dragging death here a few years ago and it was just as brutal, but it arose out of a domestic dispute and the guy dragged the woman to a an excruciating death. It got some local press play, but for some reason didn't "shock the nation" and draw any national media.
Rot in hell ahole. Today I’m proud that Texans chose death penalty for jerks like Brewer. Now we need to have swift justice and save the taxpayers a bit more money.

It looks like the cop killer is going to get a pass. It’s amazing what a few celebrities can do for you in this country. Jugheads love celebrities.
This happened in or near the little town of Jasper, in SE Texas. I grew up in Beaumont, just a few miles away.
For many years there were billboards on the highway coming into Jasper that read:
NIG#GER, DON’T LET THE SUN SET ON YOU IN VIDOR.
I’m ashamed to now say that I never paid much attention to these billboards. That just the way things were back in the 40’s and 50’s.
There are obviously still some very mean men in Jasper. I hope this guy fries in Hell.
