The Loudon race thread is up! Ping!
Where big heavy stock cars on skinny tires qualify @ 135mph on a 1 mile flat track.....amazing
Second
Nascar can be pretty exciting but I tuned out after watching Tony Stewart intentionally run Matt Kenseth off the track.(Couple years ago) Lots of real poor sportsmanship in it now. Just a money thing. A real shame
Matt who???

NASCAR tries to break up Talladega 2-car tandems
http://news.yahoo.com/nascar-tries-break-talladega-2-car-tandems-193718167.html
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) NASCAR tweaked two rules for next month’s race at Talladega Superspeedway, apparently in an effort to limit the two-car tandem racing that has dominated at its two fastest tracks.
The first change ordered Wednesday was an increase in the size of the restrictor plate that will be used in the Oct. 23 race. The larger holes in the carburetor plates should lead to an increase of horsepower that could make the cars 2 to 3 mph faster.
NASCAR also ordered an adjustment on the pop-off valve in the cooling system that should lower the maximum water temperature in engines. A threat of overheating could prevent cars from staying hooked together for too long.

I am still pondering my Yankee hearted Pitt Panthers and the Syracuse frozen Orange Indians going to play pigskin ball with the likes of some guys called the Tar Heels and Wake Forrest Gumps by going to the Atlantic Coast NASCAR Conference (ACC).
As I grew up I always considered places like Talladega, Raleigh, Richmond, etc. places that you wanted to plan your trip around not to hit traffic on the way to Miami.
But heck, even Miami with Homestead now has to be avoided at the end of the year now.
Now if I can only figure out where Clemson is and what track to avoid there.
God really has a sense of humor that makes our lives interesting.

Is Snow White Danica Patrick??
Question - if qualifying is rained out do the lads start using the current chase leader and followers??
I just ran some numbers and this is what I came up with...
The Numbers for New Hampshire:
1 - fewest lead changes (9/17/00)
1 - fewest leaders (Jeff Burton, 9/17/00)
2 - fewest cautions (7/13/97)
2 - fewest laps led by race winner (Jeff Burton, 7/11/99)
3 - wins by Dodge at NHMS since manufacturer’s return to NASCAR in 2001
4 - most wins (Jeff Burton)
5 - wins from the pole; seven from the front row
5 - most poles (Ryan Newman)
6 - number of jet dryers available for track drying this weekend at NHMS
7 - fewest cars on lead lap at finish (7/11/93)
7 - drivers with more than one win
8 - races won from outside a top-20 starting position
10 - fewest caution laps (7/13/97)
17 - most cautions (7/10/94)
17 - different pole winners
20 - different race winners
23 - most lead changes (twice, most recent 7/21/02)
30 - most cars on lead lap at finish (7/21/02)
30 - fewest cars running at finish (twice, most recent 9/17/00)
43 - most cars running at finish (9/16/07)
79 - most caution laps (7/10/94)
120 minutes - approximate amount of time it takes to dry the 1.058-mile track
300 - most laps led by race winner (Jeff Burton, 9/17/00)
Interesting! I ran the numbers too and came up with the same results.
Rain is possible for NHMS tomorrow which is why I was curious about a Q rainout.
Nap time and McKenzie river fishing this PM.
