As bad news piles up for the Democrats, I asked a top Democratic strategist if it were possible that President Obama might pull a Lyndon Johnson and soberly face the cameras, telling America that he has decided that the demands of partisan politics are interfering with his efforts to right our economy and that he has decided to withdraw to devote full time to our recovery. His answer: Yes. Its possible. If things continue as they are and have not turned around by January, it is certainly possible.
Just looking at Michelle Obamas unsmiling face during her husbands recent speech to Congress triggered an insight: These folks arent having fun anymore.
Obama, whose insistence on passing a healthcare law that the courts will probably throw out cost his party the House, will now cost his party the Senate too. Indeed, it is even possible that the Republicans win 60 seats.
Currently, there are strong Republican candidates in 12 seats now held by Democrats. All could win in a 10- to 15-point landslide (which is shaping up). They include: Virginia (George Allen), Florida (Adam Hasner), New Mexico (probably Rep. Steve Pearce), Montana (Rep. Denny Rehberg), North Dakota (Rep. Rick Berg), Nebraska (Jon Bruning), Missouri (Sarah Steelman would be the best), Michigan (Pete Hoekstra), Ohio (Josh Mandel would be best), Wisconsin (Tommy Thompson or one of the others), Pennsylvania (Tim Burns would be great) and Connecticut (Chris Shays better than Linda McMahon).
If all win, the GOP is only one vote shy of the filibuster-proof 60-member majority in the Senate. The final seats could come if strong challenges shape up in West Virginia, New Jersey, Washington state, Minnesota and Maryland. And, with Obama this far behind, they probably will.

Wow. Just read that article from June 2010 by Peter Ferrara. Did he call it, or what?
Be interesting to see his thoughts now.
(Not you, Huma, sit down!)
Remember when this clown was repeating over and over that Palin couldn’t win because Bachmann has already cornered her votes and she’d be humiliated to lose in the “women’s division” of the primaries?
He may be bought, but his analysis sure ain’t worth much.
The only time Morris is relevant to a hooker is when he hands
over the cash. Everything else is a blur.
Even a blind squirrel finds a nut now and again.
“I think she has to move NOW...at the very latest by the end of October.”
Democrats don’t have to move. With a month left, Obama will pull out, Hillary will be drafted, and she will get all the media coverage without having to spend a penny on campaigning.
It’s the Torrecelli rule.
Don't know what your dog's name is....but he (or she as the case may be) has my vote (that is, if Governor Palin decides not to enter the race)!
She would probably play the race card and put Bill Richardson in Joe Bite-me’s place.
Bill O’Riley wins most of his bets against Dick - so what does that mean?
yes you notice the last few days that Bill Clinton is making appearances and being quoted in the news....something is brewing!
A two person race is a rather different dynamic than a 7 person race, obviously...but even so: I do think that it is extremely late for Clinton. I would personally say it is TOO late...but if anyone has reasons as to why she might be able to ramp up a campaign against an incumbent pres in the next 30 days, I’d be curious to hear.
Ouch! Good one.
Don’t get your hopes up. There is near political eternity before the next election and much can happen.
He’ll only pull out if the Democrat leadership unearths some really big scandal and has it publicized non-stop in the press (all the while maintaining deniability for themselves). The New York Times would give them a hand - they’ve been dumping on Obama pretty regularly. It would have to be something with a smoking gun pointing directly at Obama, that would make it impossible for him to run.
Absolutely! We want odumbo to stay in. Hillary would be a strong candidate to beat.
Hmm. That’s an interesting statement - 14 months.
I think Obama’s ego and narcissism will never allow him not to run. He isn’t a rational person, not that many politicians are, but in Obama’s case, irrationality plumbs the depths of depraved insanity. He’ll need doctors and men in white coats to drag him out kicking and screaming. I’ll be surprised if he leaves willingly, even after losing the election.
Yipes! they’de make a couple of good jack-o-lanterns this being the season.
C’mon, Dick Morris...really?
Even I can speculate better than the Toe Washer.
The Heifer isn’t going to run. My guess is that Joe “Cracked Head” Biden is going to resign and become the national spokesman for The Villages.
The Heifer is going to replace him as VP and Bill “Quagmire” Clinton is going to join the obama team as his spokesman and political advisor.
obama will appoint the most Jewish person he can find in the country to replace The Heifer as Secretary of State and all will be set right in his desperate little world.
