Texas Gov. and GOP presidential contender Rick Perry released a new campaign video Wednesday, blasting President Obama for a lack of leadership in creating jobs and pointing to Perry as the leader who could turn the economy around.

Actually, I hadn’t seen the ad yet. The title was misleading... Rick Perry did NOT call Obama zero... In the context that the term “President zero” was used, it was an effective ad.
Outside of conservative blogs and discussion forums few people refer to Obama as Zero in the derogatory.
The point of this ad, powerfully delivered, is that Obama has created zero jobs and zero growth. I think it is very effective and uses the wealth of Obama statements against him effectively.
It also draws a stark contrast between Obama and Perry who sounds optimistic.... not shrill and angry like Obama.

Your dream ticket must be Huntsman-Graham.
This country hasn’t endured Obama “belittling” everyone for three years, we’ve endured his damned big government socialism for three years. We rose above this behavior in 08 and got our asses handed to us.
The country is craving bold leadership and not at all worried about civility.
I agree
Powerful video at link.
Is there a reason you can’t place that ‘Powerful Video Link’ in the thread or comment section so one doesn’t have to click thru another site?
Perry doesn't need to win the presidential election yet. He needs to win the primaries. This is very appealing to the electorate (Republican voters) who are looking for a powerful figure to counter Obama.
Agreed. But if “President Zero” ever falls from Perry’s own lips, I think we have a situation.
I could have done that, but then that would have been a duplicate thread. My thread is through ABC News because they are buzzing about it and have commentary.
>>> This IS NOT how you win a presidential election. Just ask G.H.W. Bush!>>>
Talk about out of context. Bush did not lose the election because he called Clinton “bozo” - but to the extent you think it hurt, it was because GHWB campaigned as a friggin wimp for the entire campaign and then the last minute “bozo” comment was so out of character that it seemed desperate and mean spirited. He was also an incumbent President and this made it even more unseemly. And from what I can tell, there is no immediate tie from Clinton to Bozo the way there is from Obama’s own logo to Obama’s own jobs number in August. The “zero” claim is not just a pejorative, it is based in fact and Obama’s own imagery.
And besides, the idea that the political, media, electorate climate is anything like it was in 92 is just ridiculous.
I saw the ad but was not focusing on WHO said that....but rather on the ad itself. I thought it was a good reflection of how Gov. Perry sees Obama....how we ALL see Obama...and how many of those who voted for him are beginning to see Obama.
The ad was reflecting the plain-talk of Gov. Perry and I liked that. I thought it was well-done and... time-wise was perfect.
;-)
“No, enough of the mealymouthed New Tone rubbish. Thats what got us Obama in the first place.”
Amen!!!
“Americans love to fight, traditionally. All real Americans love the sting and clash of battle...Americans play to win all of the time. I wouldn’t give a hoot in hell for a man who lost and laughed. That’s why Americans have never lost nor will ever lose a war; for the very idea of losing is hateful to an American.” Patton
That is my feeling as well, it is the low road and will harm his image. I know there are many here at FR who would love to see name calling at Obama but in the long run that tactic belongs on a playground, not in a Presidential campaign... Unfortunately, the author of the story (or an editor) chose to use a misleading headline with the story in order to subtly attack Perry. It's pretty obvious after seeing the video that ABC news is still carrying the water for Obama.
A friend sent me this video this morning and I honestly cried watching it.
I was remembering what American once was and how quickly, because of one man, what it had become.
Give the media whores a chance to mislead and they’ll do it every time. Especially the headline writers, they’re the worst. Every chance they get.
The zero comment in the vid is a reference to zero jobs created last month. Perry isn’t the only GOP member that used that exact same line.

Yes and a couple of news articles were titled as such, here’s one
President Zero
Read his lips: No new jobs

Right on! I have said all along that the “campaign” has to be about zero, hitting him hard and relentlessly, and less about “issues”. We watched SP kick him in the ‘nads during her acceptance speech at the convention, and he was off his game for a week or two following that.
I guarantee you the libs will push very hard on the he sounds just like Bush theme.

Fox and Friends were already doing it this morning, more on his pronunciations, Gretchen did and then that puppet dude was on the show and he made a crack.
