In the late 80s early 90s I kept a suite at the Sofitel and there was a great old time NY steak house close by.
I think it was Gallaghers on 52nd and the steak was delicious because they aged the meat on site.
The Sofitel wasn't bad either.

Palin would/will be a better candidate

It is a very good steak house, but there are many that are better. On the other hand, its a bit more, private then going to say Peter Lugers or Double Eagle (you'll need more then a wallet there, you'll need your bank, lol).
I would have thought they would have gone to Smith and Wollenskys.

Interestingly, Post House and S&W are owned by the same chain.
To: NativeNewYorker
Sort of but not exactly, the chain did buy out the previous owners, but, and this is unique, the original owners were allowed to keep the new york S&W. Its the only not owned by the same company as the rest, though they do have a sort of cooperative agreement (marketing and some other stuff).
Its why they are slightly different in some respects. The firm got everything, and let the owner keep the flagship, go figure.
