Ed Rollins is at it again.
Mr. Rollins, the former campaign manager for Representative Michele Bachmann of Minnesota, has questioned her ability to extend her campaign for the Republican presidential nomination beyond Iowa, the first state in the nation to hold a nominating contest.
In an interview on MSNBC, Mr. Rollins told Andrea Mitchell that Mrs. Bachmann does not have the money or resources to compete with her better-financed rivals, like Mitt Romney and Rick Perry.
Right now, shes competing hard in Iowa, Mr. Rollins said. But, he added, she doesnt have the ability or resources to go beyond that, Iowa, at this point in time, where Perry and Romney can go into South Carolina, Arizona and other places.
The criticism of Mrs. Bachmann is hardly the first for Mr. Rollins since he abruptly departed her campaign earlier this month, citing his own health issues. Last week, Mr. Rollins criticized Mrs. Bachmann for repeating a womans claim that her daughter had become retarded after receiving a vaccine for the human papillomavirus.
Aides to Mrs. Bachmanns campaign have said there was no ill will when Mr. Rollins left. And they say he remains an important strategic adviser for the presidential campaign.
But in citing Mrs. Bachmanns resource problem, Mr. Rollins was acting more like a television analyst than a campaign spinmeister. By doing so, he put his finger on what may be Mrs. Bachmanns biggest roadblock to actually winning the Republican nomination and the White House.

Her Waterloo was in Waterloo, iowa, during her announcement speech. It went downhill from there.
Rollins is a backstabber, and it’s coming home to roost.
Seems like Rollins is mainly just pointing about the obvious.
After Bachmann’s “retard” story, which was completely unpresidential, I can only imagine how hard it must be to manage her campaign. Throw in that GSK, who makes the only vaccine that competes with Gardasil, has given Bachman thousands in donations, and she is dead meat. Unless, of course, her master Mittens Romney throws her a few more coins to stay in the race and smear the field for him.
I don’t care what anyone says. Rollins is a loose cannon and always entertaining. One gets the impression that he isn’t aware that what he says to himself in his own mind is also coming out of his mouth at the same time.
“more like a television analyst than a campaign spinmeister”
This is the key phrase. Rollins is tired of knocking himself out as a campaign manager (he did say that was why he was stepping back on Bachmann’s team) - and has his eye on a new career as a talking head. Heck why not, it’s the porch where the other old dogs (Carville, Rove, Caddell, et al) go to lie when they’ve run their last race.
I doubt too there is any sense of loyalty with “insiders” like Rollins. They probably feel they are bigger than the campaign.
Well I as well as many others said the Bachmann made a huge mistake when she hired this guy and I think its safe to say we’ve been proven correct.
This is why so many of us cringed when Bachmann hired Rollins. Rollins is known for badmouthing a candidate he's worked for once he's left his post or the election is over. This is no surprise.
I liked her for a while but then realized that she is our Plugs Biden. It’s just one gaff after another. Honestly, I wrote her off when she said the Everglades shouldn’t be off limits for drilling. I’m a drill everywhere guy but if there’s a last place on earth to drill, it would be the Everglaldes. In FL, that was political suicide and just plain tone-deaf. Everything after that just reinforces the fact that she’s not ready.
I don’t know, Michele seems to be on a roll, roll downhill. Poll just showed her at 5%.
Rollins was not the last stupid move she made.
With her trolling for Mutt’s VP slot, he might toss her a few bucks to keep the blind Pittbull act going.
MB thought she could get a great deal and lost. She was warned.
You lie with dogs you end up with fleas.
She’s toast and Palin isn’t about to save her goat smellin’ ass this time.
I wouldn't hire him for nothing.
Why anyone would hire Rollins to run a campaign, let alone a Republican campaign, is beyond me...
He’s the Pubbies version of Schrum...
His going on MSNBC speaks volumes.
I was surprised she hired him in the first place; thot it a bad idea...Now confirmed. Would have been nice if he could have left the campaign with class—keeping his mouth SHUT. No one should hire him for a campaign ever...let him make his livelihood on MSNBC where he belongs.
She is not ready for prime time. Too bad.
very insightful
This isn’t the first time that Ed Rollins has done something this disgraceful. He’s an aSShole who should never be hired by anyone for anything more important that handing out towels in a men’s room at an airport.
I can't tell you how disappointed I am in her. I think she may have destroyed her political career.
I can forgive a lot. The gaffes, the over-the-top Gardasil attacks, the Rollins association.
I don't know if I will ever be able to forgive her selling out to Romney though, or her attack of Perry from the LEFT on Social Security. (ugh)
Yeah, when her mistakes were just silly like “founding fathers” and “Lexington & Concord”, I hoped she’d get better. Unfortunately, she got worse.
