For the fifth year in a row, crime is down in the United States, according to the FBI. The 2010 final statistics released today show a 6.0% drop in violent crimes from last year's report -- better than the 5.5% announced in the preliminary findings in May.
Violent crime is down 13.2% from 2006 and 13.4% from 2001.
But parts of the country are getting worse.
Flint, Michigan -- the most violent city in America -- saw a 10% increase in violent crime over last year, with 2,208 violent crimes per 100,000 people. Rust Belt neighbor Detroit was only slightly safer.
The cities on this list are ranked by violent crimes, including murder, forcible rape, robbery, and aggravated assault, per 100,000 people.

Just out of curiosity I took a look at today’s local news for an idea of how my county is doing and found a front page story that says crime was down 13% last year. However the lead story today was about a man who stabbed a woman and barricaded himself in a home. (Down in the hood)

Are any of Eric Holder’s PEOPLE involved in these figures?
I will say that Downtown Memphis at night is extremely safe, and that most violent crimes are black on black.
Crime is “down” only because security is UP . . . WAY UP
oops missed that.
Something like 95% are Democratic cities.
Don’t they have the races there?
New Haven,Connecticut is a democrat one party disaster.I happen to work their.Other than that I stay the he’ll away from there.
Let the dem’s drown in their cesspool.
I did not see any of our Texas cities on the list. Wonder why?
MIS is just outside Brooklyn. In fact, I doubt Brooklyn would have more than 1000 people if it weren’t for the track right there.
Correlation is not causation, of course, but it sure looks like there are above average Amish populations in every one of those cities. And heavily Hispanic Southern California didn’t earn a single Top 25 listing.
Slim pickin’s in Deetroit, so da boyz are headed to Flint to continue their lifestyles.....
Yea...LOL
I thought about that....”they were female hookers just for clarity
It was hard to tel the difference sometimes between the girls and the wannabe girls
Saw some really weird stuff down there....
West of the Mississippi is OK save for the usual CA suspects. Noticed no cities in our second largest state (by population). Denver, PHX, PDX, SEA all OK.
I know people in brooklyn
I didn’t know the city was having a problem
Yeah; that one would get me outa town, too.....
Yes, New Haven (#4), Hartford (#14) and Springfield (#12) are dangerous liberal dumps. I have a buddy who is a utility worker...he is not allowed to work anywhere in Hartford without a police escort.
What do they have in common? Democrats run for mayor or city council, frequently unopposed, and win easily. They are not accountable.
Why is NYC NOT on the list? The mayor of NYC is just as likely to be a republican as a democrat. The mayor is accountable. And kudos to Rudy - NYC still feels the good policies that he enacted years ago.
I don’t know if I’d call it a problem. Most of the crimes appear to domestic fights. A few months back a guy was arrested after chasing the police around the yard with a chainsaw.
