The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has told Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat to immediately suspend the cervical cancer control vaccination programme for girls. The programme is part of a two-year study to look into the utility of a vaccine in public health programmes and acceptability of Gardasil, the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine made by Merck. Gardasil, available in medical stores across the country, is marketed in India by MSD Pharmaceuticals Pvt Ltd.
The programme was marred by controversy after four deaths and complications among 120 girls were reported after vaccination. The girls complained of stomach disorders, epilepsy, headaches and early menarche. Women activists fear the vaccine may impact the mental health of girls who have shown no signs of distress so far.
Health ministry sources said the vaccination programme is being conducted by Gardasil, jointly with PATH, a Seattle-based NGO, ICMR and the two state governments. About 32,000 girls, aged 10-14, were to be tested in the study.

Once again changing the subject ... tsk tsk
The red-dot is from the “Obama-bots”, the black-dot is for the Hindu people of India.
Either way, you can go to India and vote against him.....
You live up to your screen name.
Please point out where I said vaccines are “attempted assasinations”.
Please explain how you get anti-vaccine from anti-government-forced vaccine? Because that is the obvious intent of your reply.
I want people to be able to have the right to say “I want this, but no way am I taking that” and I don’t want the government forcing or mandating something I don’t want, and I want the government and doctors NOT to assume I want NON-LIFE-THREATENING MEDICAL CARE procedures if I have not made a clear expression to them of “yes”.
Don’t you?
The left really did Africa a favor when they took away DDT. Hardly anyone died from DDT. Millions now die from mosquito borne diseases.
Libs just shrug, keep banning DDT, and say they had good intent. They like the fact disease is killing off so many people.
The left has learned you can kill a lot of people off by claiming to have their best intentions at heart, and usually get away with it because you claim the alternative is worse, or they have some kind of immunity from prosecution, or data is buried, or the media buries the story. DDT is just one of those things.
At the same time they turn away from a safer solution that worked, they go to less effective, more costly, solutions. And then start ‘charities’ to drain rich guilty people’s money away from them to pay for the less effective, more costly solutions. That means richer governments dedicating more of their citizens’ money to other countries to help pay for these less effective, more costly solutions.
It’s a process that nails more than one target group. Population control, taking more money out of private citizens’ hands. Spending and wasting funds on less effective solutions that don’t work as well but cost more. Money that could be spent on fixing real infrastructure problems in their own countries that are in need of repair.
I believe that Rachel Carson is public enemy #1 in much of the world. Wikipedia “credits” her with bestowing upon us the EPA and much other tree-hugger horsesh!t.
I wonder if India had a problem with quality control in their vaccine program. Or if this was simply the natural result of people reacting to what they hear, like how suddenly everybody was accelerating their Prius cars because they heard they had braking problems.
I sure hope we can elect a President who can solve this plague of the Gardasil Vaccination. It is surely the biggest problem that has ever faced our country, as I can tell by counting how many threads have been created to push this anti-science crap for political purposes.
You are still trying to compare a risk that occurs once in a lifetime (if they get the vaccination) to one that occurs every year of their life.
Be honest, not deceptive, in your comparison if you want people to take you serious.
The numbers are clear.
Both are rates for populations
because statistics do not apply to individual cases. Right?
So, thackney, is there a single line you refute?
As algernonpj posted in #69:
2006 population of women per the census was 151,795,031.
Number of cervical cancer cases
diagnosed in 2005 per the CDC was 11,999.
00.07904% of women
were diagnosed with cervical cancer.
Number of deaths by cervical cancer in 2005 were 3,924.
Percentage of deaths were .0125%.
Death rate for vaccination = .01250%
[thackney, this might be higher
since it takes three injections to even work
what do you think?]
Death rate for disease in U.S. = .00258%
The NET Benefit of a medical treatment is
NET BENEFIT = (Risk with NO treatment)*(the net benefit of the treatment) - (The risk of harm).
To compare the two risks, vaccination or not, you must multiply the cancer risk per year times the average lifespan of women who consider getting the vaccination.
That hardly seems accurate since it assumes
they are at risk from birth, but YOU claimed
the drug protected them from something acquired
during sex. How could it be both?
But you used women off all ages as the base of determine the risk of cancer.
You either must limit your statistical base to the ages of the risk, which may be a more difficult number to find, or you must multiply the risk per year times the number of years of life.
You cannot get a a lower number for the cancer risk by including infants in the population, then ignore those years in the risk accumulation. You either include those for both or neither.
No. I am not the MANDATOR, the fascist Executive
who ORDERS the vaccine.
Nor do I defend the odious practice of PerryCARE I.
No. The onus is on you all to explain all that
and the $$$$ payoffs.
“...I want NON-LIFE-THREATENING MEDICAL CARE....” That sounds fine but when there is dispute among those who extensively study these things there is little chance the man in the street can make an informed decision.
For example, do you really believe there was any significant information in the article excerpted?
hack, he can’t address your points honestly without destroying his own argument so he will ignore them and change the subject.
If you want to use statistics to make your point, then use them correctly or expect to get called on your false comparison.
Gardasil only protects against 2 strains of HPV which account for 70% of cervical cancer deaths so if you want to compare complication rates with death rates you should only use 70% of total deaths which will lower death rate percentage even more.
