Rick Perry Flying High in Iowa
The Iowan Republican ^ | 09/17/11 | Jeff Patch

COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa—Gov. Rick Perry (R-Texas) blitzed through Iowa Friday with the swagger of a rock star, elevating his high-octane campaign with a series of stage-managed campaign events.

As the only sitting governor pursuing the GOP nomination for president, Perry’s Texas-sized entourage and personality project an aura of authority that other candidates envy. His style, though, may risk alienating Iowans accustomed to lower key campaigning and more time for back-and-forth over issues.

For example, Perry traveled to campaign events throughout Iowa in a 22-seat Gulfstream IV jet owned by Wells Fargo Equipment Finance, Inc., a subsidiary of the banking conglomerate. The plane has ferried Perry since at least Sept. 12, when it left Austin, Texas for Tampa., Fla., where Perry participated in the CNN-Tea Party Express debate. Perry’s use of corporate jets, a perk most other candidates lack, allowed Perry to cram five public events into four days. But the propriety of jetting around the Hawkeye State for retail political events in a corporate jet could crimp Perry’s populist touch among fickle, frugal Iowans

Jet owners can put their jets in the program and derive revenue to offset their costs, and anyone with $4,000 to $8,000 to spend per hour of flight time can now be a jet-setter. These costs look even more reasonable when split between six to nine passengers on the plane.

"It's more expensive than getting on JetBlue," O'Neill said, "but in some instances it's not a lot more than traveling first class."

Al Lewis: Fear of Flying Private Jets Has Passed

When this was happening hard and heavy, there were some that had the company name taken off their jets. How sad is that--that they were so under attack that they felt they needed to hide it?

Scared for using a business TOOL.

I’ve been reading his posts for the 10 years I’ve been here and he’s a lot more conservative than you are.

I think it’s pathetic how all these new posters supporting a particular non candidate have the nerve and gall to call long time posters here trolls or not real conservatives.

Who made you or even the “tea party” the final arbiters of what is conservative? The grassroots movement has been hijacked by a bunch of opportunistic grifters who think their definition of conservatism is the right one. I have news for you, it’s not!

To Polybius: ... "Dude.... Did you go to washington dc for the first Tea Party march? NO? Then shut the hell up." ..... winoneforthegipper

Hey, winoneforthegipper, (yes, you, the 2008 newbie on FR), unless your other screen-name is "Jim Robinson" and you own this Forum, you can take that advice and cram it right back up where it came from and where the Sun don't shine.

As I wrote in Post 59, you are engaging in nothing more than Obama-style, class warfare agitprop.

Tea Party? For all we know, 2008 newbie, the only meetings you might attend in Washington, DC might be meetings of members of Democratic Underground.

As long as his campaign is paying for it, legally, what the devil is the problem? It’s not like he is using the armed forces for transport, is it.
Some people are never satisfied - I guess they’d complain if certain candidates rented a car to get where they are going.

I was reading a thread at DU yesterday, and some of them were referencing their presence on FR as trusted posters, and freepers.

LOL...I have halfheimzer’s and forgot my original log on one time back 2004 but as for the rest of your goods you try to sell....

Let’s get this straight....

I am as conservative a member of this board as there is...I am God fearing and quite staunch with my politics. I don’t appreciate bait like you coming on threads looking for a handout of STFU.

You are what is wrong with America. IT is your challenge to either bone up on your skills as far as interpersonal politics go or just leave the forum in peace.

I have tired of you....go play.

if you are owned.....nothing is inconsequential

If you have proof that he's owned, then show it, otherwise we are going to think you are one of the trial lawyers who are out to get Perry because he passed tort reform in Texas.

To my way of thinking, when you are governor of a state the size of Texas, driving around in a Prius is stupid and a corporate jet is probably the most cost efficient way to get around.

What's wrong with flying commercial? Are politicians "better" than the rest of us? The obvious answer from the GOP Establishment Elites is yes, they are better than the rest of us.

Either you are a “lost in the fog Palinwisher” or another undercover paulnut sabotuer running for cover of Palin’s skirt.

“Obviously the whole state of Iowa has Palin Derangement Syndrome.”

We will know in a week. I believe her deadline was September either way.
We have to get behind someone.

Amazing how these whackos are all for the liberal chant “tax corp. jets” when they try miserably to make their lame point.

No wonder Palin fell from favor with followers crazy like paulnutz.

They want more of the Telepromter Reader-In-Chief and won’t be satisfied until America completely turns into a third world country.
