Who else do they have, though?
The 'Rats don't have a second string. Name a single Senator, Congressman or Governor with any kind of national appeal. Any kind of a record to run on.
There just aren't any.
If they somehow pry Obama and Michelle out of the White House, Hillary is the only option with any chance of winning. Anybody else would be an unknown -- and a sure loser.

In early 2007, few, if any of us had ever heard of Barack Obama. He was a relative unknown who nonetheless managed to attract enough support to become a major contender, and win.
I don't watch the Democrats closely enough to have the faintest inkling of what sort of talent they might have on their bench.
But, I can't totally disagree with you. There just doesn't seem to be an ascendant Democrat in the wings who could unseat Obama for the nomination, so I suppose the speculation about Hillary running again is natural.
I still don't see it happening, though. Obama, Pelosi, and Reid have so utterly demolished the Democrat brand, that it's going to take at least two presidential election cycles for it to heal. I don't even know that two election cycles is enough.
Given that reality, who in their right mind wants to sacrifice themselves on the alter of a destroyed party which has no chance of electing a president?
