Another step in the deteriorating relations between Israel and Turkey toook place on Thursday, with hints that Israel is behind the leakage of tapes of secret talks betwen Ankara's intelligence personnel and the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), a disclosure that shocked the Turkish public and put Erdogan's government on the defensive.
Erdogan, obviously furious, sought to defend National Intelligence Organization Chief, Hakan Fidan, in his release to the press. He had previously denied the taped conversations took place.
We know certain circles have targeted Hakan Fidan in the past, Erdogan said in reference to past Israeli claims that Fidan is pro-Iranian.
According to Turkey's Hurriyet Daily News, comments made last year by Defense Minister Ehud Barak on the issue caused a rift between Jerusalem and Ankara and affected the cooperation between Turkey's intelligence services and Israel's Mossad.
We are investigating how the leakage happened," Erdogan said. "Even if Mr. Hakan makes a mistake, we would not sacrifice him for this reason. This has revealed the ill-intention of the perpetrators of this leakage. This wont bring anything to them."
The Turkish leader blasted the opposition for using the leaked tapes as political weapons.

If Erdogan keeps this foolishness up, it’s going to be Israel that’s having talks with the PKK.
Story 2: The Jews leaked the conversation tapes
Why is Turkey still in NATO? Boot their Islamic asses out, and maybe the Turkish people will replace Erdogan of a leader worthy of Ataturk's secular vision.
Yeah, right.
Of course. Next we’ll shake a lulav at them, and they’ll all come tumbling down.
PPK is a German gun. PKK is an outlaw Kurdish party in Turkey.
Walter? Did you subliminally plug your gun in typos again?
I hope we are already well along in talking to PKK.

The Turkish leader blasted the opposition for using the leaked tapes as political weapons.I just looked up Erdogan in the dictionary, and it sez, "see 'epic fail' or 'implosion'."
Not likely. For nearly two years the US has picked up the tab for flying Predators and other special platforms nearly round the clock to assist the Turkish military. Add to that the significant personnel cost and all we’ve ever received publicly is ‘Why can’t you do more?’.
We must make clear which we we mean when we each respectively say “we”. I pray that, while your “we” has been subsidizing these bozos and giving them free stuff while they whined about the sufficiency, my “we” has been talking to PKK about the aftermath of the Turkish civil war.
The Turks have no stomach for a civil war, and the Erdogan government has been busy systematically destroying the military, so it’s doubtful they’d be able to pull anything off. Those who saw the handwriting on the wall have already made plans to vacate (and in late 2009, when I left, the more westernized Turks thought they’d have at least five years). Even the PKK knows (through the Turkish press) that their gatherings and donkey trains with supplies have been shredded thanks to the US assets they hear and see too late. Assuming there’s another ‘we’ speaking with ‘them’, I doubt they’d believe anything said - would you?
