Criticism hasnt eased for Texas Gov. Rick Perry in the wake of his statement during a recent debate that the border cant be secured and defense of his states tuition policy for some undocumented immigrants and a two-day tour in Iowa this week doesnt look like it will hold solace.
((snip))
Jerry DeLemus, chairman of the Granite State Patriots Liberty PAC, a tea party umbrella group, described the Texas answer as wrong-headed and a big negative against Perrys White House hopes. Katrina Pierson, a member of the Dallas Tea Partys steering committee, said Governor Perry has not met the standards, for me, to be the President of the United States if he cant even address the real issues here in Texas.

I think the voters will want someone with experience in the P spot this time which is why I listed Newt first. That would set Cain up for P the next time around or so.
“Saving America is going to take more than an iffy candidate.”
We go with the candidates we have. We have an overall good field this year, a step up from 2008. Saving America wont happen with a fantasy candidate that wont be on the ballot in 2012.
Perry is one of the best candidates for conservatives in the field, which he why he jumped to frontrunner status. Others - Cain, Bachmann, Santorum, Gingrich - are choices you can go for, but none are really better than Perry overall, they all have strengths and weaknesses. The main issue for the other conservatives is the lack of executive experience (eg being governors) and electability.
If you want to be a pure Tea Party conservative, with a strong economic conservative agenda, then support a guy who is truly solid and conservative - Herman Cain. since he’s not gotten elected experience, he’s not taken seriously and it looks like it will end up being a Perry v Romney fight.Gingrich would be good too, if not for his sitting on the couch with nancy, but is he electable?
Perry is weak on immigration, but the critics are over-the-top on that - he’s against the DREAM Act, signed a voter ID bill, pushed for outlawing sanctuary cities, and opposes amnesty. He’ll have to answer more on immigration issue.
Romney is to the right of Perry on immigration, and to the left of him on everything else. Since it is looking much like Perry v Romney, beating up on Perry is most beneficial to Romney.
“If I agree with the candidate 100% of the time,”
I never do, and I never expect to. I also thinks its not right to call a candidate a RINO just because they arent 100% in agreement with me.
Choose wisely.
“I think the voters will want someone with experience in the P spot this time “
Good observation, this is why Bachmann wont break out, why Cain is a nice guy who wont finish first, and why Perry and Romney are in the top tier - they were governors.
” Of note; this thread is hours old and not a single liberal Perry supporter has bothered to chime in and defend their pro-ILLEGAL alien hero.”
I’m sure there is one female who will post pro Perry until he or she dies : )
Only one? :-)
