Rick Perry not likely to receive respite from immigration criticism in Iowa
The Iowa Independent ^ | 09.14.11 | Lynda Waddington

Criticism hasn’t eased for Texas Gov. Rick Perry in the wake of his statement during a recent debate that the border can’t be secured and defense of his state’s tuition policy for some undocumented immigrants — and a two-day tour in Iowa this week doesn’t look like it will hold solace.

((snip))

Jerry DeLemus, chairman of the Granite State Patriots Liberty PAC, a tea party umbrella group, described the Texas answer as “wrong-headed” and a “big negative” against Perry’s White House hopes. Katrina Pierson, a member of the Dallas Tea Party’s steering committee, said “Governor Perry has not met the standards, for me, to be the President of the United States if he can’t even address the real issues here in Texas.”

I think of him as a lot like Rick Snyder in Michigan. He was nominated by democrat crossovers but once elected has been fairly pragmatic about fiscal issues. He’s socially very liberal but has little means of acting on it so we can live with him for now.

The fact that he wants to keep tabs on the weight of children, build windmills and high speed rail shows exactly why we won’t be pushing him for president in the future.

What other country lets itself get walked all over like this by foreigners?

None that I am aware of.

What political ideology panders to ILLEGAL aliens, wants them to have instate tuition and wants to give them amnesty? Liberalism. So why would a man calling himself a 'conservative' be in agreement with all three?

BTW

Rick Snyder is also trying to snuggle up to the tea partiers after having shoved us away in the past.

MSNBC, the network that makes CNN look conservative, says Tea Party people love Rick Perry because they know if he gets the Republican nomination we'll have 4 more years of Obama.

They also know there are many who will eat it up.

Conservatism lives but not in the mind (or agenda) of Rick Perry.

When it comes to battling ILLEGAL immigration RINO Rick Perry is on the wrong side of the debate.

You can’t blame Perry for the illegals being here, but he has offered them some incentives and I believe you are correct that he is a phony. I agree with Ron Paul on almost everything except his goofy foreign policy. Too bad, because he was Tea Party before Tea party was cool. As far as Romney, he may be a flip flopper but I don’t think he is a phony and I think he has the best chance of beating Obama. And, more importantly, he is not a career politician. So, do you want Obama or what? It is very sad that others like Rubio and Paul Ryan chose not to run, so we are stuck with what we have. Bidenesque Bachman, goofy Paul, inexperienced (but genuine) Cain, and the other dwarfs. It is a shame Newt has a Nixonian character flaw because he is the smartest of the bunch. So, the bottom line is we have to make a choice between a phony and a flip flopper. I think I’ll take the latter, and hold my nose.

lol! Wish I had thought of it.

When it comes to allegiance, Perry is clearly on the wrong side of the border.

I think you've outline things fairly well. Just for the heck of it, is Paul's foreign policy vision his only drawback? If there are others could you list them? Seriously. I'm wondering if there is any salvaging of any of these candidates. How is he on illegal immigration? I'm think the foreign policy thing might change once he got let in on the private stuff (shouldn't already be in on this stuff, if so there is no excuse for his comments)

Newt is there any hope at all with him? I know he has 'baggage' but for the most part they all have 'something'.

What about a Newt/Cain ticket? Could Cain keep Newt on the straight and narrow?

He is as likely to win Texas as Gore was likely to win Tennessee.

And many of us who worked to block his TTC project in the past are working hard now to insure he looses the state in the event that the Republicans nominate him. We beat him before and we will again.

Defeating socialism and crony capitalism as ideologies is far more important than defeating Obama the person.

How this phony fraud Perry fooled so many is really something. Hard to believe.....he is a terrible choice..........

My view is Texans don't have much say in his state races. Senor Ricky gets away with mucho BS in Texas. Cattle country doesn't demand veracity...or much else...from its elected officials.

Gov Perry's ongoing suckups to illegals raise serious questions about his curious string of unbroken elections wins.

QUESTIONS PERRY SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO ANSWER

<><> Have you made deals with illegal aliens (1) to exchange campaign cash and votes for gratuities, (2) to use your office to get illegals US govt handouts?

<><> Did you promise illegals tax paid-free education, EITC, welfare, food stamps, UI, SS, SSI, healthcare, sub-prime mortgages, subsidized bank loans in exchange for votes?

<><> Do you know this is a felony?

<><> Do you know which identity illegals use to register to vote for you?

<><> Do you know illegals who qualify for Texas in-state tuition may also be eligible for state aid?

<><> Do you know that ‘state aid’ to illegals is paid for by American citizens?

===========================================

Perry has a curious string of unbroken wins in Texas that would be hard to achieve elsewhere....plus a mighty presidential war chest of million and millions of dollars, apparently accumulated when he said he WAS NOT running for president.

Watching him in action, I get the feeling Texans don't have much say in the matter of Perry being elected governor.......and he's climbing over the backs of Americans to achieve his presidential ambitions.

BACKSTORY Perry did not officially enter the Iowa straw poll......but he calculatedly timed throwing his hat in the ring on the same day Bachman won the Iowa straw poll----stomping all over Bachman's hard-won victory.

Perry cunningly manipulated the Iowa vote from Texas. That strategy was supposed to put him over the top. Instead he got a pathetic 700-800 write-ins ...while Iowa winners who did the right thing-—spending time and money there-—— got 4000 votes each.

The Perrydactyl's were cued to "say" Ricky won Iowa. And there Perry was----front and center---waving to Iowans, taking pics in front of prominent Iowa banners---manipulating the media to make it look like he was the winner.

The winner in his own mind.

PERRY'S SO "POPULAR" IN TEXAS Senor Ricky gets away with mucho BS in Texas. Cattle country doesn't demand veracity...or much else...from its elected officials.

EXHIBIT A. "No Ma'am," Perry replied the other day when asked whether he signed on to support Obama's $800 Bill TARP giveaway.......even as the letter w/ Perry's signature goes viral.

================================================

Sucking up to illegals is a HUGE game-changer for Perry. Fox news clip showed Frank Luntz's responders as resoundingly pro-Perry UNTIL amnesty raised its ugly head. The responders suggested that Perry's sucking up to illegals disqualifies him for the presidency. Perry was cheered UNTIL the amnesty question surfaced---that's when he was loudly booed by the Tea Party debate audience.

RAZA STUDIES: Anti-Americanism Disguised as Ethnic Studies in Tucson Schools
Townhall.com ^ | August 27, 2011 | Rachel Alexander
FR Posted on Monday, August 22, 2011 by Kaslin

The Tucson Unified School District (TUSD) is in a contentious fight with the state of Arizona over its controversial Mexican-American Studies program. A state law went into effect in Arizona on January 1, 2011, banning the teaching of ethnic studies in K-12 schools. It was prompted by an investigation into TUSD’s ethnic studies curriculum by Arizona Attorney General Tom Horne when he was State Superintendent of Schools.

The program is known as “raza studies,” which means race studies, championed by organizations like the far left organization National Council of La Raza. The course does not simply teach Latino youth about their heritage, it goes well beyond that. The textbooks teach Latino youth that they are mistreated by America, training them to become radical anti-American activists.

Textbooks include “The Pedagogy of the Oppressed” and “Occupied America.” Another text "gloats over the difficulties our country is having at enforcing its immigration laws." Benjamin Franklin is vilified as a racist. White people are referred to as “gringos” and “oppressors” of Latino people. “Privilege” is described as related to a person’s ethnicity.

At a TUSD school board meeting on May 10, one upset mother read excerpts from the textbook An Epic Poem: " My land is lost and stolen, My culture has been raped......we have to destroy capitalism…overthrow a government that has committed abuses….to the bloodsuckers, the parasites, the vampires who are the capitalists of the world: The schools are tools of the power structure that blind and sentence our youth to a life of confusion, and hypocrisy, one that preaches assimilation and practices institutional racism."--SNIP--

If Perry can’t read the tea leaves on his porous border position, then indeed he has not met the standard.

Continued mass third world immigration is not a recipe for success.

I think he can, but considering he has made a career of pandering to ILLEGAL aliens it would hardly be practical or acceptable to his faithful leftist followers to reverse course now.

He has positioned himself as the pro-ILLEGAL alien candidate; that can and will cost him the support of true conservatives and I don't mean these liberal Giuliani retreads who support him here.

All I have to say to the Perry supporters is to ask them to go back a year in their posts and compare them to their posts today.

Do your ideals today match your ideal then? If not, why not? Something worthy of some real serious thought.

My rule of thumb with candidates...

If I agree with the candidate 100% of the time, its a fair bet that somebody is lying. Either the candidate is lying to me or worse, I’m lying to myself.

Saving America is going to take more than an iffy candidate. Its going to take a trustworthy candidate and moral courage of his or her supporters.

I think all of these candidates have some good qualities, even Perry, but all have some flaws (don’t we all?). I never thought of a Newt/Cain ticket. Maybe a Cain/Newt would be better. Any of these people would be better than what we have now. The media keeps criticizing all of them, and even though I don’t care for Perry, the more the media attack him the more I like him. We already know more about all of these candidates than we do Obama.
