CBS/AP) CINCINNATI A tea party activist is challenging U.S. House Speaker John Boehner in the 2012 Republican primary.
The Cincinnati Enquirer reports that David Lewis announced his candidacy on Friday.
Lewis, 26, is the father of a 2-year-old girl, and says he plans to run on a single issue Boehner's support of a federal budget that includes funding for Planned Parenthood, which he calls "the largest killer of unborn babies in America."
Lewis told the newspaper he plans to run graphic...

He's already lost as far as I'm concerned.
Anybody got a Twitter and or Facebook page URL for David Lewis? (the only one I’ve found so far is a democrat from another state)
It brings attention to the establishment and life issues. Thanks David. The picture of David that CBS posted tells us what they think...
Me too! I’ve been looking for hours for it...lol it turns out that I had it on my hard-drive.
Great graphic!
It’s good they have a little fear...
Keep trying you may recover one day, stupid comment on your part. Boehner goes limp every chance he gets. We need stand up people in congress.
This goes to my hope that he will extend his statement. Because he has said that Boehner doesn't believe in the Tea Party, he needs to articulate, in addition to the pro-life issues, why he believes past Boehner actions have been counter to Tea Party philosophy. Post #8 by Jeff Head is a good example of other issues Lewis could be talking about. The sooner the better. It would be enjoyable to see how fast to the right Boehner can sprint. Maybe words like "We are willing to cooperate with the President" will be forgotten words, alien in their concept.
“Nobody runs on one issue only.”
Hope you’re right. We need to retire this shrinking violet.
Hope he runs. Bonehead needs to go.
Of course but now, a professional photographer needs to go in there and start ramping up the photo montage with patriotic images; as this man is obviously a patriot.
Disclaimer: I have not researched this guys background yet so I cannot verify the claim of teaparty.
the feckless one must go!
i’ll be writing a check if he checks out.
bump
What? Boenher was the Rock of Gilbraltar during those debt-ceiling negotiations. He was able to reduce the massive projected increase in spending for FY2012-13 by almost 2%! I swear, there's just no pleasing some people....
Amen and Kudos to you
I think Boehner is doing a good job.
This primary challenge, where this guy has virtually no chance, is precisely the kind of thing upon which many here will apply scarce resources, which could be better deployed defeating democrats.
Here's something we do know about the young man:
Lewis, a University of Cincinnati graduate who quit his job with a bank last December to be an activist, acknowledged that he lives in Rep Jean Schmidts (R-Loveland) district now. But he said hed move into 8th District if he wins the primary.
He's not even living in Boehner's district.
Yup, it's a stupid, silly, vanity challenge that will never go anywhere. This is probably the last we will hear of it.
He, and thousands just like him, need to run for seats at the bottom of the GOP, where they could easily win.
It is because the average 'conservative' doesn't understand their duty to take care of business in their own district that we find ourselves with far too few vetted capable candidates for all elections. Yet the RINO's and liberals 'get it' while conservatives just don't.
After all, he swore to God to support the Constitution, which says:
"No State shall deprive any person of life without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.""No person shall be deprived of life without due process of law."
He should also lose for a whole lot of other things, not the least of which is the fact that he lectured the new Tea Party freshmen the first day they arrived on the Hill about how they had to be "adults" and vote to raise the debt ceiling, and for advocating throughout the debate that we raise it by more than two TRILLION dollars.
