“In the majority of the country where hispanic labor is a major force, the majority are from Mexico and their habits and beliefs are indeed somewhat homogenous. At least homogenous enough to where this poll on this particular issue, where the conventional wisdom would have led us to believe they think otherwise, is at least worthy of mention.”

How much do you know about the hispanic poulation of New Mexico and Southern Colorado? In this region the majority have been there since the 1500’s when Spain controled the area. Most if not all of these families have no ties to Mexico, and tend to despise illegals with a passion. Try calling one of these people Mexican. You may end up missing a few teeth. I know this because I was born and raised in Northern New Mexico and come from one of these families.

Are you really arguing that Mexicans aren’t the majority, or at least a comfortable plurality, of the hispanics in this country? They are the closest biggest country - they share a huge border - and they have an awful economy. Most of our discussions with other nations on hispanic immigration happens with the President of.....wait.....Mexico.

I am not cherry picking any specific area. If you are from a certain area I would assume you know more about that area than I do. But I know demographics and geography and logic. And FTR, I was not making this an issue of legal versus illegal. The voter ID issue is only tangentally related to that given the realities of ID production ease.

In fact, my only point was that this was a legitimate issue to poll and that the results were pleasantly surprising. Why folks want to nitpick fights around irrelevant edges is beyond me.

The poll asked “voters”, and since illegals are not legally able to be “voters” I would say that this was a poll of people like those you mention. Or in any event those who have followed the rules and don’t want their vote canceled out by somebody who cheated. These numbers make sense.

The demographic that the political parties are afraid of offending, I think, is probably also included in this poll though - which is the people who are able to vote but maybe have relatives who are illegals. This poll suggests that legitimate Latino voters don’t necessarily want illegals to be able to vote through fraud. Which is exactly what the democrats - including the race-based Latino activists who favor communism - want to be able to happen.

So the dems/activists are trying to make it appear that there is no difference between legal voters and illegals who want to cheat. This poll suggests there is a difference. If voter ID laws are passed and implemented, the people who oppose the voter ID laws won’t have much impact on the election because they won’t be able to vote, since they were never legal to vote in the first place and the voter ID laws would stop them from voting.
