Election '12: You know a presidential campaign is going south when its detractors have more fun with its website than do its fans. That's the case with AttackWatch.com, the Obama site that's making him a parody.
According to the logic of AttackWatch.com cue "Jaws" music there's a vast, right-wing conspiracy out there determined to lie about the president and vote him out of office. Drastic steps are needed, and the comically menacing black-and-red AttackWatch website is the answer.
Calling on readers to "Get the facts. Fight the Smears," about President Obama's record, the site actually encourages all Americans to become snitches for Obama. That mimics the 2008 Obama campaign's "FightTheSmears.com" site, as well as the George Soros-funded MediaMatters.com. AttackWatch asks readers to "report" the "lies," presumably so the Obama team won't have to Google its own record.
On Twitter, this pompous, conspiracy-minded premise has managed only to attract an outburst of humor.
"I saw a kid eating fries with his happy meal yesterday," tweeted someone signing himself NostraSeamus.

Al Gore should have done a better job of designing the Internet.
This one was tweeted to #attackwatch soon after the site was launched and was retweeted hundreds of times and even got picked up by the Washington Post - still my favorite:
“There’s a new Twitter account making President Obama look like a creepy, authoritarian nutjob.”
#AttackWatch is one of the funniest things ever to grace the internet. We should start a live thread just on funny AttackWatch tweets.
I reported myself for writing a nasty letter about Obama to my local newspaper.
Michelle Malkin reported her column.
I have reported myself about 70 times so far for various thoughtcrimes.
Just make sure you use the email address of “flag @ wh.gov” to close the endless do-loop. Yeah, I know they can trace the origins back to my computer but that's not the point.
That is an excellent idea.
Soooo inventive!
"CynthiannG RT @CSEconomist: If you brought up the idea of #AttackWatch to George Orwell, he would just laugh it off as being too ridiculous to include in his books."
"bfrysworld See Conversation @AttackWatch: Swiss Watch Maker, Swatch, wonders why Obama wants to attack them. #AttackWatch #AttackSwatch(?)" >p>
This is really bad for the Obummer: he’s become a laughingstock. People may have hated Pres. Bush, but despite all their attempts, he was never a laughingstock - he was a serious man with serious ideas. Obummer is becoming a joke, and that’s the kiss of death in politics.
Must. Read. Tweets. FASTEEEEEEER!!!
Following #attackwatch on twitter is addicting. I have not gotten any work done for the past three days.
I followed the feed today for a few minutes. Some memorable tweets (it’s very entertaining):
I’m listening to Rush, right now, so I’m turning myself in...Dittos.
My neighbor is hoarding incandescant light bulbs.
Remember the good old days when all we had to worry about was whether or not to take the mark of the beast.
Thats good.
lol. that was one of mine :)
Anyone notice the website has the same colors of the Nazi flag? Black, white and red.
Cue the AttackWatch “Hitler” video. It’s hillarious!
I just got my new attackwatch, the minute and second hand work just fine, but the year keeps reading 1984.
