Interesting facial hair. They carefully shave the front but don’t touch the hair around the edges. Is there some religious significance to this or are they all just trying to fit in.
The reason they don’t wear mustaches relates to the fact that 19th century Prussian military men wore huge bushy mustaches. As they were strict pacifists, Amish refused to grow mustaches, in order to deliberately look non-military.
Around here, the married Amish men grow in moustaches and all, full bearded. The UNmarried Amish men shave off the upper lip.
