Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann's story about a woman who claimed that her daughter suffered "mental retardation" after receiving a vaccine against HPV could fetch the woman's family thousands of dollars. But the family can only collect if Bachmann or the unnamed woman can prove the story is true.
Two bioethics professors have offered to pay more than $10,000 for medical records that prove the anecdote Bachmann told after Monday night's Republican presidential debate is true, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports:
Steven Miles, a U of M bioethics professor, said that he'll give $1,000 if the medical records of the woman from Bachmann's story are released and can be viewed by a medical professional.
His offer was upped by his former boss from the University of Minnesota, Art Caplan, who is now director of the University of Pennsylvania Center for Bioethics. Caplan said he would match Miles' challenge and offered $10,000 for proof of the HPV vaccine victim.
"'These types of messages in this climate have the capacity to do enormous public health harm,'" Miles said of why he made the offer. 'The woman, assuming she exists, put this claim into the public domain and it's an extremely serious claim and it deserves to be analyzed.'"
Bachmann told the story after she criticized opponent Texas Gov. Rick Perry for using an executive order in 2007 to mandate that all girls entering the sixth grade receive a vaccination against the Human papillomavirus, a sexually transmitted disease that can cause cervical cancer.

Bingo! She needs to handle this mistake (it is a bump) like Palin handled all the garbage thrown at her and like all the garbage in the gossip magazines. Someone needs to get the facts for her before she steps in it. Learn and move on.
NEVER use ONE verbal example, parent source or doctor source, for a government based decision.
I don’t doubt that the women did indeed approach her and maybe even say what Bachmann said she did.
But MB also gave it credence with her final statement to the press on the incident, therein lies the rub.
Look it up.
This was her “I’m not a witch, I’m you” moment. Sayonara Michele!
The “intellectual” left should be completely ignored by Rep. Bachmann. She is not accountable to them, nor should she succumb to their extremely political interference.
However, if any vaccine had made a perfectly normal 12 year old mentally retarded, that case history would have been world famous and cited in every medical journal and newspaper headline in Western Civilization.
Bachmann repeated, as a fact, on the national stage, in prime time, without any checking, something that a total stranger had claimed.
Bachmann essentially made herself the Joe McGinnis of the Presidential debates.
No thanks, it’s not that important to me. Only those with an agenda to hurt Rep. Bachmann think it’s much of an issue.

Don’t think, much “thinking” went on when she made such a statement without any supporting evidence. Bachmann was probably listening to a ronpaul kook, whom pretended to be an innocent Tea Party person. I am sure Bachmann wishes she could put this back in the bottle.
I would prefer to consider Bachmann just impulsive, which considering the position she is striving for, can be damgerous on a global scale.
As for the truther site: Get real.

First, grasshopper, this list is a LOWER LIMIT.
Second, the serious problems (e.g. cancers induced) will
show up LATER (usual latency is 7 to 20 years).
Third, there were 18,727 reports of adverse events.
Four, there were 68 VAERS reports of death.
Fifth, did the RINO Perry warn the 6th graders
they might die?

“Feelings” orientation is the best reason to tread very cautiously with promoting just any woman to POTUS.
