Why just teachers? Why not right-to-work for every Michigander?

Maybe there is hope for Michigan yet. I left in 1996 for Florida but miss the weather, family, fall leaves & the cider mills but hated the taxes.
Now if they reduce the taxes, get rid of the unions, be able to fire bad teachers maybe I’ll think about moving back in a few years.

Only 40%?
Methinks that the number would be closer to 90%.

Once a teacher has achieved tenure he or she will no longer need the union.

Of course, these union members have profited from the ability of the Union to extort higher wages and benefits. Why do you think the salaries and benefits for public school teachers are about 50% higher than private school teachers?

would make joining a teachers union voluntary, is part of a continued attack blaming teachers for school woes. NO, it is part of the correct blaming teacher UNIONS for the school woes...... My wife is a teacher and I can tell you the Union mentality infects the work environment. Her worst time of the day is going to lunch and having to hear of the bit*hing. Other than that, she love teaching.

I expect the union to use some enhanced retention procedures on those trying to leave. (I wish I was joking.)

Thats the ticket.. right to work legislation..
NEXT...... The whole State becomes a right to work State..
Being forced to join a Union IS NOT FREEDOM...
Currently several States have little FREEDOM...

Teachers unions are a big supporter of Dems. Eliminate much of their revenue, and Dems will have a harder time in future elections.
After getting rid of the union, go after education establishment credentialism. There is no reason that a math major is qualified to teach freshmen match courses in college, but not high school seniors just because he doesn't have an "education" degree.

He says some dont think they are getting real value from the $90 per month in union dues he says they pay. He's right. Teachers definitely get their money's worth out of the unions--it's the taxpayers who get screwed.
