The Energy Department (DOE) is not backing down in its efforts to support clean energy companies, despite a Republican push to pummel the Obama administration for approving a $535 million loan guarantee to a now-bankrupt solar firm.
The department could approve as many as 15 renewable energy loan guarantees by the end of the month when a program launched under the stimulus law ends.
The approvals could open up the Obama administration to more criticism from Republicans, who have raised broad concerns about the administrations investments in clean energy in the aftermath of the bankruptcy of California-based Solyndra.
The 2009 stimulus law authorized an Energy Department program to offer loan guarantees to renewable energy, electric transmission and biofuels projects. The program expires at the end of the fiscal year, which is at the end of September.
To date, the DOE has finalized 17 loan guarantees for a range of solar, wind and geothermal projects. The department has issued 15 conditional commitments that must be finalized by Sept. 30.
The department, for example, finalized an $852 million loan guarantee for a NextEra Energy solar project in California last month.

Since the House holds the budget purse strings..all this non-sense could be halted in short order. Pull it out of the budget.

I agree - I read there is 10 billion more in loans for Barry to give out. How can they STOP STOP STOP that?

FPL SUCKS!
Not that Progress Energy is any better, but FPL is an awful conglomerate.
The Financing Force Behind Americas Clean Energy Economy
The Department of Energys Loan Programs enable DOE to work with private companies and lenders to mitigate the financing risks associated with clean energy projects, thereby encouraging their development on a broader and much-needed scale. LPO is one of the largest and most productive energy project finance operations in the world and has committed over $30 billion to support 42 clean energy projects. These projects create or save over 66,000 jobs across 38 states.

The House needs to not only look at the Solar companies that are getting government money but look at the companies that are manufacturing and installing all the equipment in these companies. Where do these companies fit when it comes to donations to the re-election of the President? I’d bet this goes deeper than we are being told.
...out of control debt = stimulus2 Jobs Bill Act, Inappropriate TSA = more aggression pat downs and scanners, Mexico border crime/immigration = amnesty illegal dreams act , Unconstitutional Libyan war = now boots on the ground, Too many tax paid vacations and golf = more vacations at more expensive and exotic locations
would not be surprised if they increased the number illegal guns given to Mexican cartels.
It's those mean old Republicans again.
